I am currently down on this bottle. I did get a sample that I really liked at the store before I bought the $132 bottle. But I agree, it is coming up short of it's price (after being open 2+ weeks and 2 straight pours). That said, makes a great old fashioned for now. I hope things change for the better...

I am decidedly not a woodford fan.

I might be right there with you dude. It irks me that it is the official ($$$$) bourbon of the Derby though (I feel obligated come derby day somehow). Historically, we use Four Roses Single Barrel for Derby Day, but I am afraid that is not good enough for a great julep. That said, this year we will try MULTIPLE bourbons in our mint juleps including: Four Roses Barrel Strength, 1792 Full Proof, Makers Mark 46 Cask Strength, regular WR, and of course the WR VFRB. I will report my opinion here (if still coherent) for science

Damn, I also agree......however, I have a hail mary out to Makers Mark 46 Cask Strength.....tbd - hope it is worthy

I was looking at a 200ml to try it. I’ll likely get that just to see what it’s all about. I’ve been pretty happy with their bourbon, but that’s half the price.

I could always send ya a sample dude. (or did I already??? Muwhahahahahahaa)

Having a tug off the ol' WTRB right now. VALUE = YES

Outstanding? Maybe based on your perception, not bad at all imo.

Elite = NO. As a result, buy again? = NOPE

I have to be honest here. I ONLY want the BEST liquor (Bourbon, Rye, Irish, maybe Scotch too). PERIOD. Here are my favs thus far:

Bourbon: Parker's Heritage 14th

Rye: Kentucky Owl 4th and final

Irish: Blue Spot

Scotch??????????? don't know, haven't started!

Honorable Mention Bourbon: Stagg Jr 14 (after it mellowed out)

Honorable Mention Rye: Alberta Cask - Could win a category based on "whiskey made from another galaxy" unlike anything you have ever tried...

My sister had won a lottery from her favorite liquor store to buy a bottle of this limited edition Lagavulin Double Matured scotch.

Not much of a Scotch drinker, and this was my first time with an Islay. I was really struck by the peaty character. I rather enjoyed it, but it might take a few more pours to really decide if I like it. :D

Four Roses Single Barrel at the Costco today for $34. Just the 100 proof stuff, not barrel proof. Nothing else noteworthy. Jefferson's Voyage 23 still under $70, with a shrinking inventory.

The supply of the 23 year Kirkland Speyside for $80 is shrinking slowly each time I visit. I'm not a scotch guy, but if I was, I'd give it a whirl.

Doing a sippy sip tonight with Makers 46 and the 2021 Wood Finishing FAE01.

Has anyone had this Jefferson's? It reminds me of Old Forester 1897 but with kick. Not sure it was worth the $90 but not upset. Only 90 proof but tastes stronger.

Second sip a little smoother. I was coming off the single malt....but this is yummy.

Edit: I think I've decided Bourbom > Scotch. For the one's I've tried.

Curious what you think of the Moore. Do you like Angels Envy? Interestingly I sent a sample of TSM and AE to friends to compare side by side. They were split on which they liked more.

I don't like the regular Angel's Envy. I do have the 2020 Cask Strength which I like WAY more than the regular (GREAT nose). That said I think the TSM Port destroys Angels Envy particularly on the palate and finish, not even close for me. That bottle is a second back up because it is starting to disappear in these parts.
