Note: A poker buddy dates the editor of a fancy gourmet magazine, and she will only drink Widow Jane. I think it’s only OK; I like to support local distilleries,* and this is in my region.

* unless they produce absolute garbage, like most small distilleries in the Hudson Valley. WJ and Hillrock are a cut above. Another poker buddy started making brandy on his farm, but is years away from producing anything of quality.
I had a Widow Jane rye that had sediment in it and was undrinkable. Kept it around for a few years so others could drink it on a dare. Finally poured it down the sink. They're sourcing from MGP now, so the new stuff is better.

Picked up this Joseph Magnus Murray Hill Club today ($97). Anyone had it?

I had a bottle of the MH a few years back, maybe 4 years ago. One of the first batches at around $70 I believe. I enjoyed it but, differently than Klob, I liked the silver label better.

As I said though, it’s been a minute and the batches might have changed quite a bit.

This is on in about 10 minutes. Bourbon Junkies vs The Podcask on the Matt Madness Whiskey Tasting Invitational
Should be fun, they have been talking a lot of shit!

Surprise house warming gift from @Saoliver Was not expecting a whole damn bottle

So grateful especially since it’s one of my favorites and I have to travel to get it

I really have been wanting to try this but can't find it around here and buying online it seems delivery is as much as the whiskey

To be honest, the regular Magnus I had was a store pick.

Just the Willett for me. It is VERY good. Can't get Old Carter here  and obviously Old Rip is a tough find. I will buy if I find it. I DO have a Pappy 15 year that I am excited about. All that said, you didn't mix any of those with coke, right? Just saw your attachment photo and I hope none of those 3 whiskeys are in that glass with what I am assuming is coke! Nice bottles, sir!

I do believe your order was exactly what I would have done, and will do very soon. How was it (Bib>SB>FP)?

Perfect order IMHO, very enjoyable flight (helped to make up going desperately card dead in the tourney and running pocket snowmen into pocket aces).

And also reminded me both how fantastic this lineup is and how ridiculous of a value the 1792 small batch is at sub $30 a bottle.
