EC and Four Roses are bourbon, Crown is a Canadian Whiskey. They will have distinct flavor differences. If he likes bourbon or likes to try new things then those are solid choices. Personally while I'll drink Crown and it's good, if I'm in a Canadian Whiskey mood my go to is Pendeltons.
