I'm just sayin'...usually distilleries are gonna need you to work with a distributor. I'm sure TTB is going to have a say in this. Distiller isn't going to risk their license with a wink and a nudge. That's why some of our favorite picks go through Bourbon Outfitters.Who let this guy in?

This is awesome, I wish you all the best of luck. I'll buy a bottle or two to help the team(and cause I'm always down for anything with a cool story) but won't have any input into the process. Will watch with interest!Bourbon Barrel Not a Group Buy
This is a thread for the possibility of buying a private selected single barrel of bourbon from New Riff.
What started out as a joke led to me contacting the distillery about their barrel selection program. I found out that New Riff is a little different and you can purchase 1/4 or 1/2 a barrel rather than a whole barrel making the possibility economically feasible.

Inquiring more about taxes the response I received was
6% KY Sales Tax and 2.5% City of Newport Alcohol Tax
All said and done for a 1/4 barrel (60 bottles) this works out to a total of $3,252 or $54.20/bottle. These numbers are all approximations at this point.
Standard shelf pricing for New Riff Single barrel (at least where I live) is 52.99

The bottles would be from a single barrel aged at least 4 years that we select and would be hand bottled. New Riff uses a high rye mash bill

Up to 8 people can be present for the barrel selection process. Once the selection is made it takes approximately 30 days to bottle and the bottle will be marked with the barrel information as well as a customized label.
There is a side label for a logo and the tasting notes and an etching on the back of the bottle.
I am setting up a call next week to verify information and ask further questions. Let me know if you have any specific questions that I should ask.
The question I present here is can we get a 60 bottle commitment to move this forward. Otherwise it isn't worth pursuing.

I do plan on asking about that when I talk to the rep. The pamphlet mentions private clients so I am hopeful that means that a retail distributer is not needed.I’m in for 1-2 bottles.
Not to be a wet blanket, but my understanding of these “select your own barrel” programs was that it they are only available to someone with a liquor license. Hoping that isn’t the case, but best to make sure before we all get pot-committed.
I think legislation recently passed in Kentucky that opened things up a bit for the distillers. I get why the three-tier system of alcohol was created, but it's outlived whatever usefulness it had. The government is not telling Apple that Apple cannot sell a phone directly to a customer. Or Tesla for that matter, although they tried.I’m in for 1-2 bottles.

I'd be in for 4 bottles.I started this as a joke, but with the 1/4 barrel option I wonder if we could round up a 60 bottle commitment?
