B521 - Gone, but not forgotten. It was a good batch, not a great batch. But even the worst ECBP is good.

My local had a bunch of allocated stuff behind the register today. Unfortunately, I was only allowed to pick one bottle from these choices…

EC Toasted Barrel
ECBP B522
Larceny A122
Heaven Hill BIB
Basil Hayden Toast

Since I already have an EC Toasted and a Larceny A122, it was an easy decision

Grabbed a couple other cabinet staples while I was there!

Nice, I found a bottle of the ECBP B522 a couple of weeks back but haven't had the time to pop the cork yet. Anyone else try it yet?

If I go back tomorrow and all the one per customer choices are still available…what do I grab?

I’m leaning towards a backup Larceny A122, but the EC Toasted Barrel is pretty damn good too. A backup ECBP is probably a safe bet as well. Help! :ROFLMAO:

Went one for four. They had 4 store picks I wanted on their website. One “we have a bottle left in the computer that we used for a tasting and we don’t actually have.” “That one we sold the last bottle of this weekend.” And “oh, yeah, we were supposed to get that in March and never did.” They had one. Ugh. I placated myself with a Waterford single farm Irish. Such is life.

Whiskey Madness

wow what a contrast tonight

B4 v B5

B4- nose: bandaids, punky wood
pallet: plastic, bitter, fungus covered driftwood

B5- nose: Vanilla, earthy
pallet: light, vanilla, spice on the finish, medium finish

Winner: B5

B8 v B6

B8-Nose: caramel, grain
pallet: nice taste, caramel, bread, good mouth feel, medium finish

B6-Nose: brown sugar, oak, cherry
pallet: very cherry on front, vanilla, spice on the finish, good mouth feel, long finish.

Both of these were good, but B6 had it all and is very good.

winner: B6

I've been wanting to try Smoke Wagon but haven't seen it locally. So, I ordered a bottle of the Small Batch to share the ride with another inbound bottle.

Now I'm going to go have a little Alberta and hit the sack early!

iirc you can buy it online. It's good, nothing special. Interesting story and a lot of respect for the guy who runs it and takes a flamethrower to flippers.
