I'll join you in that bottle tomorrow. One of my co-workers high school aged sons is really into poker so I'm inviting them over to see what poker chip obsession looks like and share some whiskey with his dad.
I teetered on getting the Sagamore. Not sure if it's my thing or not, but I have a lot of their "rare" bottles. Glad I did. I picked mine up at 9:30am. By noon, every location was sold out.

Day 15: Gulliver's 47, 47%. Before you can get your nose to the glass you can smell the campfire smoke coming from this whisky. However, closer nosing brings about a sweet citrus of orange, barley, that gets overpowered and turns back into smoke and charcoal. First taste is light and youthful, butterscotch turning to cinnamon and sugar. The finish continues with the cinnamon, which stays hot throughout, and combines with ginger and dried peaches. This dram is unique, but in the wrong way for me. 4/10.
Day 16: Port Charlotte 10 Year Old, 50%. A sweet aroma of apple blends with peat. The taste of this dram continues with apples, sherry, and vanilla through the first taste and finishes off with lemon, apricot, apple, and smoke. Overall, this was a very pleasant dram that isn't overpowering or complex. 8/10.
Day 17: Smokehead Unfiltered, 46%. The nose on this is smoke, earth, vanilla, and almonds. First taste is of almonds, dark chocolate, and pepper. The finish is smooth and nutty with a hint of dark chocolate at the end. Personally, I don't love the almond/nut flavoring as much as it reminds me of amaratteo. 6/10.
Day 18: Laphroaig Lore, 48%. Nosing this dram is peat first, followed by vanilla, oak, sea salt, and leather. The flavor of this whisky is salt, chocolate, candied apples, and peat. These flavors disappear into ash and toffee and of course more peat. As a Laphroaig fan, I'd definitely rate this higher than the 10 year offering, even with the quarter cask, and below the 15 and 18 years. 8/10
Day 19: Smoky Shores from Wemyas Malts, 46%. Smoky peat, ash, and citrus permeate from this glass. The taste is of strong pepper, smoke, and maritime flavors of sitting by a fire on the beach. This lasts through the finish which adds some dark chocolate into the mix. This dram was hot for a 46% and the pepper notes were most prominent making it hard to distinguish the other flavors. 5/10.
Day 20: Seaweed and Aeons and Digging and Fire and Cask Strength 10 Year Old, 57.2%. Nosing this brings about sea salt, sherry, and peat. Tasting this bring on the heat of the 57%, followed by flavors of strong sherry, honey, raisins. The finish on this is long of more sherry and salt. Ultimately this offering for Master of Malt is quite tasty and I really appreciate the Cask Strength. 8/10
Day 21: The Balvenie 14 Year Old The Week of Peat, 48.3%. The minute this dram is opened the smell of peat fills the room. Further nosing brings on honey and vanilla. The taste of this continues the honey and vanilla theme with candied apples being added to the mix. The finish here is super long with peat and ash and honey. Overall, I love this distillery, but this offering is way different than their usual in a very tasty way. However, this is a last drink of the night dram as the finish would definitely impact any additional tastings. 8/10.
