That’s exactly why I asked lol

I had some Foothills Hoppyum left behind after a cash game about a year ago. One got opened last week and you would have thought someone shit themselves :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

I think abv plays a big part of it. But let me try this beer tonight to see. It’s been a while since I’ve had an imperial stout. Used to drink them daily

Last attempt for today

@RocAFella1 Don’t be surprised when you get a bottle of beer that smells like farts  :ROFLMAO:

I joke but that would be the gag of all gags lol

In college my roommate farted in a jar and sealed it. Then when the girls came over he gave it to one of them. She literally gagged. If we had already eaten dinner she for sure would have puked.

Legitimate newb question…don’t they go bad after a while? I can’t see a 2012 or 2013 bottling being good anymore

Date on can said bottled 9/23/2015. That’s 7 1/2 years ago. I popped the can and took a whiff. Smelled like used motor oil. That’s what it’s suppose to smell like. Poured it into cup and it was pitch black like used motor oil. That’s what it’s suppose to look like. Took a sip and taste like used motor oil. That’s what’s it’s suppose to taste like. Damn this is a good ass beer!!!

If it's reasonably high ABV (over 10%) and it's bottle conditioned, (bottled with some live yeast) It should improve for a few years, then remain stable for quite a few more. Obviously depends on the quality of what was put in the bottle, but I wouldn't hesitate to cellar a Bourbon County stout or other well known imperial stout for a decade. I had a bottle of that 2012 coffee stout in the photo just above your post that I opened about 4 years ago, so 7 or 8 years in the bottle. It was one of the 5 best imperial stouts I've ever had. I always keep my Bourbon County stout cellared for at least a year before I open them. The few I have opened fresh, right after buying were disappointing. They are absolutely better a year or more down the road than they were when freshly bottled.

You can also cellar most true sours (fermented and aged with wild yeast - not kettle sours) almost indefinitely.

Anyone follow Fred Minnick? He ranked Larceny BP C923 as the second best American whiskey of the top 100 he tasted last year. And A123 came in right behind it!

I’m a little surprised that Larceny B523 isn’t up there. It’s my favorite bottle of 23. I have all three Larceny batches but haven’t cracked an A123 or C923 yet so I’m real excited to try them and compare with B523. As for the ECBPs, I haven’t gotten my C923 yet but it’s in route…finally!!! I loved A123 and thought B523 was real solid, albeit slightly different from the typical EC profile. I think it got crapped on for losing the 12yr statement. Great year for both brands in my opinion!

It may just mean that he didn't try that particular release last year. He did say in his video that it was one of the biggest surprises of the list. He selected the 100 bears throughout the year, but to rank them, he tasted all 100 BLIND. In a single 5 hour livestream.

Game time baby!! Playing with house money so go get it!

Having a warmer upper before I dive into the deep end of the pool. Unfortunately this is way more novelty than quality. It was a birthday gift that I got last August and haven’t touched it since we cracked it at my birthday cash game. It’s a little better now but still nothing special.

LFG STEELERS!!!
