I don't think that anyone who cares about what the chip looks like would buy these any way...

Relax...I'm just kidding...y'all can spend your money on whatever you want!!
Sample sets base prices are coming in at a massive 4 bucks or so possibly as high 8 bucks if we don't hit the price breaks. So there's not exactly big money involved here.

Just wondering what the trademark language is around the “rim pattern”? Is it molded or printed that they trademarked? Or any combination of card suits (which I’m pretty sure are in the public domain)?

Molding or printing doesn't matter. It's the pattern of the four suit symbols, closely spaced, repeated around the circumference. The order of the suit symbols in each group doesn't matter.

@Marhault, why not change the cane to a long scrub brush, sort of like this?

@Marhault im going to update my order because I want a cash set with nickels for a micro stakes home game. I’ll give you a full breakdown shortly.

Not saying this is a complete search by any means, but when searching "Gaming Partners International Corporation" as owners of trademarks the only thing close to this that comes up is this one:

http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4806:9dn99t.18.85

No results that include rim designs, but I may not be using the correct search terms.
And I'm sure some helpful individual will reply "no you are not" without any other helpful input, because obviously if you are not getting their desired result then your not doing it right, even if they have no clue as to what you should be searching for, nor do they care, as you are not confirming their bias.

Your search session has expired and displays no results. Not very helpful, although you did try...

More than you did, I guess you could start a session, then search for the same term, and look at the results, but that’s probably more effort than you want to put into this.

Just my two cents as a lawyer at a company that owns and manages various intellectual property rights. If you contact GPI’s legal department, they will vigorously enforce their rights and contend that there is a likelihood of confusion. It’s what our legal department would do if we concluded that our IP was being put at risk through another use.

That's what I was thinking. If someone's going to ask, they will find a reason to say no. Just make it not even near there standards, no reason to ask, and we're good.

Yeah I have limited experience but I figured it'd be better to just do it and take the C&D. What do you think @Hornet?

Why do you care what I do or want to do? Are you stalking me, lol ?

The link seemed to work just fine for me, so maybe try again @BGinGA

I mean...couldn't these designs just be considered parody. No reasonable person should take these seriously and confuse them with a GPI/Paulson product.
I think that would get you the okay for a fake inlay that is close (like beers in the shape of), but if it's like what they use, I'd think they would say hell no.

Not a lawyer, but I have 18 years of experience of being an annoying ass. So my opinion isn't worth the data being sent when I press "post reply"

I don’t care, but you are the one that started this drama, without any attempt to help people understand it better. I’m just trying to give them tools and info so they can have a better understanding of where they stand.

Nope. Just a white screen that states:
"This search session has expired."

I didn't start anything, certainly not any drama -- just offered an opinion and some simple advice about maybe thinking about avoiding potential legal problems (been there, done that). It's no fun dealing with threatening lawyers. Not much fun dealing with your bullshit, either.
