PCF Cigars (6 Viewers)

for you and anyone else, what's the best way to store the shrink wrapped stuff? Put it on a shelf as is, put it in a humidor as is, open the shrink wrap and put them in a humidor, open the shrink wrap take them out and put the sticks in a humidor?
At one time in my hobby, I cut the cello at the foot and stored them. These days I put them in the humidor as they are. I like the cello wrapped cigars as it protects them as I rifle around the drawers looking for something to smoke.

yeah, just talking about the wrap on the boxes, not each stick

New house. New ashtray. New batch of cigars to choose from.

Any idea what is going on here. This is with 65rh Boveda packs in there. Haven’t so much as touched it in a few weeks.

I am pretty sure this is how the relationship between temp and humidity works much of the time.

Check out this article: https://fm.okstate.edu/energyservices/energymanagement/blog/temp-humidity.html

Also, I presume your bóveda packs aren’t dried out and in need of replacement?
Yeah. I’m aware of the relationship but that just seemed like a huge swing and it isn’t a particularly cold day.

I’ve got they trays out and basically just drying out and I’m going to re place the Boveda packs which are kinda grainy but not what I’d call crunchy with brand new 62% ones.

I suspect part of what happened was that because they are relatively thin cedar trays and then acrylic boxes there just isn’t anything to absorb a big swing. Add that into the acrylic boxes being a pretty tight seal and my having stacked something on top of them making them even more tightly sealed their was no where for the moisture to go.

Good lesson to learn and glad I noticed when I did.

This happens all the time with my acrylic humidors (the ones that look like an acrylic cookie jar). They are frequently over humidity. I assume it's because the seal pretty much air-tight, so all the humidity gets trapped.

So….

Sitting around a fire this weekend and lamenting the issues with my acrylic humidor and a friend of a friend interjects with how he only uses wooden humidors but they are frequently a pain in the ass. We got to chatting and he offered to bring me a wooden humidor he never had any use for. Well I get a message today from him and he drops this off.

He said his wife bought it for him but he is “an old man and this is to stylish for him.” He wouldn’t let me buy it off of him, “just pay it forward some day” however I did stuff his pockets full of cigars before he left.

Colibri humidor... Very nice!

I have a lighter from them that works like half the time so I was a bit skeptical but I did some reviews and what reviews there are seem pretty good. It is seasoning now, gonna see how it holds moisture and probably move my NCs into it.

Looking forward to seeing what you think of the lanceros.
Been sick so haven't gotten a chance to give them a try and want to save them until I've got all my senses back.

Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum R 52. Yeah, I'm going to have to go ahead and say that this is the best cigar I've ever smoked — perfection from start to finish. Just wish I'd brought more than two back with me from Vegas...

Question for y’all — my monthly game is as much about the cigars as it is the poker. However, in cold months, we either take a break from playing or take a break from smoking, both lame options.

Has anyone had experience playing cards in a local lounge? I don’t want to waltz into a cigar lounge and hog a table, and our guys will certainly buy a stick or several, but wanted to see if anyone had tried this previously.

I'm with you. I stopped hosting a few years ago when my life got too busy to try to host. I did play some at my local cigar shop by recruiting my cigar friends. We knew the owners well and eventually got a key so we could lock up whenever we wanted. We knew that was a special situation that wouldn't last but so long and now that is over as the shop was sold. I now regret not play there more.

Now our crowd struggles to find places to get together so I have hosted a couple of games in my garage. Now that it is cold, I'm doing to try to host this weekend since my wife is out of town and I can experiment with the heaters, how high I can raise the garage, control the smoke exhaust and not be cold. I limited it to 8 players as a first run and it filled up in 15 minutes. Folks are dying just to get out to smoke and the bonus of playing poker on top is great. If we played inside, I don't think many would come.

Sorry to be long winded. To answer your question, you should try talking to the owners or workers at a shop about playing. I'd try to get to know them first before attempting though. Maybe they already have a game. There's one about 25 minutes from me that plays twice a week. I think they play for gift cards, but am not sure. If you approach the owner, make sure you emphasize the extra business he'd be getting. Good luck!

I have three of these! Been so tempted to smoke one, but want to age them a little first, I think. Stunning shape.

You can see 1 sleeve is empty. Smoking that one now. 3 boxes, really? Damn, I couldn't resist at least one. Smoking another one tomorrow night while I'm hosting poker. Going to give one to a friend. I'll see how long I can hold onto the last 9.

Hahaha, didn't realise that empty sleeve — how is it smoking? I wish it was three boxes! Definitely would have already smoked a few by now; I meant to say three individual sticks.
