Am I the only one here who remove all the bands before lighting up?
I usually smoke mild to medium mild cigars so I have issues with the last 3rd.

I remove them about half way through.

Maybe? I smoke a little over halfway to let the heat soften the adhesive so removing the band doesn’t take wrapper leaf with it

I've been taught to let the heat of the cigar soften the glue used on the band so that it comes apart easily so as not to damage the wrapper taking the band off. In some instances I've had slightly dried out cigars and the band actually helps hold the wrapper together.
