PCF Shows (3 Viewers)

Not sure if anyone else is watching The Muppets, it's like a reimagining of the muppets with an The Office spin to it.

Not a big fan of Kermits new pigfriend, but there's a bunch of hilarious characters in the show. One of our favorites had us rolling around the 0:43 mark on this clip

Did S1 of The Leftovers this weekend, pretty good stuff. Bit of a slow start, have to say I had a good bit of "I don't give a fuck about this" going for the first couple episodes. Finale was fucked up (in a good way), looking forward to S2.

@jbutler , did you see the most recent Homeland yet? very good. This season is really delivering.

Yeah Homeland is killing.

I have avoided posting here since I haven't had a chance to rewatch the season finale of the Leftovers. I sort of nodded off a bit throughout and didn't take it all in.

Homeland is en fuego right now, I'm just tonight kicking off season 1 episode 1 of leftovers. So far I like the premise and acting that's all I have so far

Starts off slow. Ends great. Looking forward to your thoughts on it

At the start of the new show season, I like to pick one series and follow it all the way through. I've watched 'Strike Back', 'The Americans' and 'Fargo'. I've been taping the 'Oak Island' series on the History channel. It's no drama or action show, but if you're into buried treasure, there's a rich history here. It's hyped up a lot, but on occasion make some interesting finds.

Agree generally with DD that it starts off slow and ends great, but don't think you're getting things resolved in the end. It's great because the "mysteries" are essentially the backdrop for performances and semi-blowhard-y philosophical pondering. Mind you, I am into semi-blowhard-y philosophical pondering, but that's what it is. Best show on TV in my book, but markedly different from basically everything else in terms of structure, tone and themes, so be prepared to be uncomfortable and without the type of tension release that might come if this show were on another network.

And obviously totally agree re: Homeland. I'm trying to think of a show that has had the kind of peaks and valleys in quality that Homeland has and I can't. I almost stopped watching a couple times. Crazy to think that now.

Lost Season 3 I almost gave up, the show had soooo many one-off episodes that had nothing to do with the plot it drove me nuts, Inconsequential characters, specifically the nicki and pablo storyline of getting buried alive from being bit by spiders while hiding diamonds comes to mind, (not sure if that was season 3 or not).

But I think homeland found its niche, hopefully. It needs to just be a spy show, i dont give a flying fck about the personal lives and medication carrie takes. I truly dont.

For me, the Leftovers fills the "Lost" space in my brain in a way that no other show (or maybe even movie) has. And it avoids Lost's biggest problem, which you identify, of having to fill out 20+ episodes each season when they really only had 10-ish episodes of plot to work through.

However, I think it is similarly frustrating to a lot of viewers. People who found themselves hating Lost after the fact because they never found out where the polar bear came from will not like the Leftovers any better I don't think.

this is weird. I should fall into this category. For some reason I just don't mind that Leftovers isn't answering the big question (s). They are doing so well with the story/plot/acting that I am simply enjoying the ride.

I've finally started Battle Star Galactica, 2004 I believe. I'm three or four episodes in. I really like it. The politics are already getting a tad old. Its no where near bad enough for me to not watch it. I like basic premise of it. Who doesn't like a solid sci-fi show. I also have to say I'm impressed with the special effects. The space battles are pretty impressive.

Finshed ep 3, Season 1 Leftover where hes in the casino. I swear the sickness is real when they pan on chips and all i see is shitty slugged ones.

Shit I almost forgot all about that whole sequence. What a great episode. What a great show. Looking forward to rewatching the whole thing actually.

The new Netflix show Making a Murderer came out today. I imagine I'll be hitting at least episode one this weekend and perhaps the whole thing (10 one-hour long episodes) if it's good. I'm sure it only got the green light because of Serial being such a massive success, but I don't care so long as it's solid on its own.

To be fair, there's plenty of troubling motherhood content in the first season as well, but yeah, second season opener ain't an easy go. I would say to lookout for episode 8 from season 2 as well.

We just watched episode 8. I laughed! Keri didn't seem phased. The season opener was harder going for her.

With the family still out of town I was able to watch Homeland this morning. Very solid season finale. Nothing mind blowing. A good way to end it.

I wouldn't say solid. Acceptable is probably better.

I would have preferred they kept stride with the rest of the season honestly. I read a couple reviews that seemed to think that there had been some missteps or awkward pacing during the season, but that said overall it had been good and that the finale had provided a "dense" cap. I didn't get that at all. I thought the season overall was excellent, but the finale has me thinking they might be falling back into the life and times of Carrie Mathison soap opera rather than substantive plotting something interesting outside of her own troubles.

In any case, the best season of the series was the first and I pretty much wanted to murder everyone involved after that finale, so I can't act like I won't keep giving the show chances.

Less Carrie the misguided pill-popping emotional wreck with love triangles, More Carrie the great CIA operative

I liked it. This was easily the best season since S1.

Just finished S1 of Battlestar Galactica. I really liked it. Adama getting shot at the end wasn't really a surprise. I kind of expected him to die for some reason. Looking forward to starting S2.

Looking for something different to watch last night for the wife and I. After a bit of searching I stumbled across "You, Me, and the Apocalypse" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4337894/?ref_=nv_sr_1.

We've only watched one episode so far. I really enjoyed it. I like Jenna Fischer. Rob Lowe plays an over the top priest. I'm not familiar with actress
Gaia Scodellaro. They need to get her out of the "sister apparel" and into something a little more revealing :)

Seems to be a fun set of characters. I'm looking forward to watching another episode tonight. If anyone has seen it I would like to hear your opinion of it.

Thanks,

B

We finished up Leftovers season 2 last night. On balance enjoying it but suspect that that Lost/X-Files lack of resolution will ultimately kill it for me. I hope to be proved wrong. I am not sure how many more seasons it may get, so may not be an issue for me.

Undeniably a great show, well produced, excellently acted, etc. but the GR is still the weakest link for me. They are not realized well enough via the narrative to justify the shit they pull. I need some sort of insight into their agenda/drive to suspend my disbelief. Not really working for me as is...

Anyone check out 'F is for Family' yet?.. Its a Vince Vaughn and Bill Burr masterpiece~

Only about 6 episodes into its life but I cant get enough of it. Its a netflix original but Im checking it out on Kodi.

Lots of swearing, rudeness and just plain good ol' non PC stuff.

I burned through season 2 of The Leftovers over the past two days...

I know that I enjoy the show but I have a shitload of "I don't know what the fuck I watched" going on. I do know that I am looking forward to watching season 3 on a weekly basis when it happens. I am a HUGE fan of finding something new and just binge-pumping episode after episode... as far as the screen, big or small, goes, there is little that I honestly enjoy more. However, I strongly feel this show probably works better in doses giving yourself time to process the previous episode instead of diving head first in to the next one.

I think there is a leftovers thread, but I am in the same boat as you. Cranked out both seasons over about a weeks time while on vacation. I don't really know what I'm watching but I enjoy it while I'm watching it.

Maybe a little Lost-ish as in I have no freaking clue what's happening for a plot episode to episode but the singular episodes are well done
