@jbutler WTF................great "The Leftovers" episode...........WOW............

Haven't gotten to it yet. Very busy Sunday/Monday. Might not get there tonight either :( Eventually...

Glad it was good, though - looking forward to it now.

EDIT: No big deal to me about the mild spoiler, DD, but maybe put it in spoiler tags for others in case they're reading through later before having watched.

Okay, finished my Sunday shows last night.

Homeland continues to be very good, but I was left feeling like I wasn't connecting the dots properly to understand a couple of the plot points this week. Maybe reading some recaps/reviews will get me back on track.

Walking Dead was pretty awful imo. Just a complete filler episode. No character development, no necessary plot details revealed, just an hour of...something.

Leftovers was absolutely great. Again, the best show currently airing imo. I really hope Damon Lindelof stays closely involved in all the seasons going forward. Despite the fact that the producers made it perfectly clear in media interviews that no one should be expecting the mysteries of the show to be answered, I'm positive there will be all kinds of hemming and hawing and backlash after the finale airs and we only know 50% more than we know right now.

Btw this week the Leftovers featured another amazing performance, this time by Ann Dowd as Patti Levin. Television this year has mirrored movies in that the number of excellent female performances destroy the number of excellent performances by males. Maybe a function of the writing, but I'll have a hard time narrowing down my vote for Best Actress and I think I'd be similarly conflicted if I followed the Emmys as closely as I follow the Oscars.

good point. How do you do that, lol.

The show was riveting this week. I cannot wait until next weeks episode. Patti is fucking ridiculous. My wife was in the room with me. She was on the laptop and doesn't watch the show (short tv attention span). I dropped an "OH FUCK" and startled her and the dogs, lol.

I'm really looking forward to it Bill... Krysten Ritter looks really good in that role... Based on the trailer alone, I think it has the potential of being even better than DareDevil... That's speaks volume to me, as DareDevil was head and shoulders above any other superhero adaptation, whether movie, series, tv or cinema imo...

Hitfix says:

… It's by far the darkest and most adult of any of the current wave of comic book TV shows (Jessica's swearing alone would make Agent Coulson blush), and instantly one of the best, even if it suffers at times from tunnel vision. … "Jessica Jones" is unlike anything Marvel or DC has tried in the live-action realm, and it's excellent. Hopefully, it leads to even more risk-taking with the kinds of characters and stories that get taken from page to screen.

Several non spoiler reviews below.

I'm pumped!!!

I watched episode 1 this morning. It was very good. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see the follow up episodes. Hopefully I can squeeze in episodes 2 and 3 tonight. If I was going to nitpick. That is just what it is. Nitpicking, it seemed the pace of the episode was a little off at times.

Starts off with a sex scene. Don't see that in many superhero shows, lol. No blatant nudity. Clear sex scene none the less. I love her tormented, whiskey drinking ways.
I'm familiar with the hero and the villain. I kind of expected something like what happened at the end. I'm really glad they went there.

Didn't see Homeland last night, but the Walking Dead was appropriately terrible. The Leftovers will be a bit divisive, I think, but I loved it. Jamming a Sopranos and Kubrick tribute together is definitely right up my alley. The last two episodes of the season should be doozies.

I'm on vacation this week. After our errands this morning I'll be watching Homeland and Leftovers. Two of my favorite shows this season.

Im a Monday night Homeland watcher, with football and walking dead, its hard to watch it. I do look forward to Homeland though, very watchable season with a clear direction for the show, for the first time since season 2 began.

My wife works late on Thursday's. That's when I usually watch Homeland and Leftovers. Vacation this week is going to allow me to watch it sooner :)

Has anyone been following The Man In The High Castle?

TMITHC on Rotten Tomatoes

I've made no secret of my love of Dick but I'm not sure how I missed this one. Oh wait, children.

Anyone seen it?

Yeah, loved the pilot and currently making my way through the season. It has not yet disappointed. @Leonard started a thread about it and Jessica Jones here.

(Note that I have maturely refrained from joking about your love of Dick.)

It sounds good - will have to check it oot.

Seriously, I'd have Dick all the time, morning, noon and night were it available. Can't get enough of it. Worked my way through the entire Dick back catalogue in my youth and now there's nothing left to get my teeth into... :(

Your love of cock is well-established, so of course it comes as no surprise that you're just as friendly with Dick.

Damn. This is my midlife crisis?!?

I'd hoped for motorbike or extreme sports but cock it is.

I need to petition for DG Vulva, see if I can turn this thing around

The last two episodes have been frickin' crazy. Looking forward to the next two, with no expectations of solving anything. Just enjoying the nutzo ride.

Hoping to start The Man In The High Castle this eve.

This Amazon ad campaign
seems a little Ill judged

Can't mess with the flag!

Yeah my first instinct when I read of the complaints was, "Give me a break it's a fucking advert," but there are still plenty of Holocaust survivors walking around and I can't comprehend how disturbing it would be to walk into that subway car.

Also feels like the right time to bow to peer pressure and watch The Leftovers

Very much so! I enjoyed the first season, but others thought it was a bit of a slog, so do push through to the much more-acclaimed second season even if you're not feeling it right away.

Not the entire first season of The Leftovers. It did take me 3 to 4 episodes for it to hook me .

Watched the most recent episode this morning. WOW..........outstanding yet again. Even with so few characters in it. Great performances yet again.

@jbutler , thanks for pushing this show. I might not have given it a second chance. It is easily my most anticipated show each week.

Really glad it's getting some love. As I noted above, the critical response is better this season, but viewership (as best estimated given HBO's reluctance to release numbers) is evidently down.

I'm just glad we're in a television age where shows can have poor ratings and stick around. We lost a ton of shows over the years that deserved more time when they were cut off by the networks for not being immediate hits. Now a show like the Leftovers or Mr. Robot is allowed to breathe and develop over the course of a season or two instead of trying to explode in the first episode.

Finally got to Homeland last night and it was well worth the wait. Great episode. Can't wait to see what happens to that redheaded chick. It's at that point in the season where things can either go completely off the rails or where they can make good on the promise the season has shown to this point. I'm hopeful, but not certain that they'll do right.

In any case, F. Murray Abraham has been very good and I think his character's impact on the plot has had a lot to do with why this season has been better than some before it.

I want to preface this with its really stupid. Now saying that. The wifey and I fricken love "The Grinder" with Rob Lowe and Fred Savage.

Now have The Leftovers and High Castle to watch... What should I tackle first?

Caught a sneak preview of the first PKD adaptation episode looks great. Lol'd at the chick's lack of emotional response to his sister being shot dead but I guess living under Nazi/Japanese rule is liable to harden you up. Show looks good though...
