You bet your ass I do! My text to Kyle conveying said shame...

In all seriousness I'm super glad this episode had a happy ending. I've not been in a similar position but it must tilt like hell when it looks like your hospitality has been dumped on.

MAJOR UPDATE!

So, fellow Denver poker-chip-fan @Kyle sent me a text this afternoon, basically asking me... are you sure the folks at that table didn't accidentally over-fill four barrels in those cheap racks, and leave one barrel four chips short?

I pulled out the set that was used at that table, and lo and behold... there were 21 chips in four barrels, and 16 in the fifth! 21+21+21+21+16 = 100 ...Alas - no missing chips
(except for the two on my damn eyes, apparently)!!!

This happened to be a table of relative "noob" players, and to quote Kyle, "it's those fucking shitty racks... non chippers just shove as many chips in the slot." That they do!

Crisis averted!! (y)(y)(y)
Time to get rid of those shitty racks. Obviously they are the cause of undue stress and chip anxiety!

This is great. Detective @Kyle cracked the case! Very smart.

I was embarrassed when I found two $5 chips in my pocket after last year's meetup at @Trihonda's place. :whistling: Of course I returned them before heading home. Sometimes sh!t happens.

Was tha last year? No need to feel embarrassed. I totally forgot about it, until you just mentioned it. Lol. I don't think I was bothered one bit. If someone wants to buy souvenir Benny's $5 chips at face value, I'm not gonna complain. Ha!

I think that when people are moving about at a meetup, and they have their hands full of great beers, snacks, etc... it's not impossible to imagine chips getting placed in pockets during transport.

That said, if chips were ever stolen in Malice at a meetup, I'd be a game changer for me. The meet ups have been always thought of as "safe". Ive seen expensive samples just sitting out for sale (on the honor system), hosts are opening up their homes to scores of strangers, and there's loads of opportunity for shenanigans. But there's a mutual respect I've seen demonstrated by attendees at all the meet ups I've attended. A sense of comaraderie, that adds to the friendly party-like atmosphere.

Glad everything worked out man!!

But the solution is obvious here. After the game breaks, tell people to just leave the chips as is on the table. Wait for people to leave, crack a beer and fondle all the chips before racking them up yourself. :D(y)

This is what I do! I had the guys stay and help me rack up once. Clearly my OCD is worse than theirs as they are not allowed to "help" again! ;)

You bet. Happy to help out.:)

Like I said to you before. That same thing happened to me with the players just shoving in an extra chip in the cheap racks.

Glad it worked out for you and that the chips are safe and sound. (y)

Well done.

I normally do this too... but I was hosting a multi-table event, it was already 2:30am, and I just wanted to go the f*ck home. :P However, lesson learned... HANDS OFF THE CHIPS! :)

Late to the party here and glad they turned up.

In general, I'd probably start the conversation with "Hey, a few chips are missing. Is there any chance someone made it home with them?"

People love being accused of stuff about as much as being told they are wrong.

Absolutely. At the recent NH meetup, I brought Boardwalk samples because some people wanted to check them out. I left them in @Chicken Rob basement, knowing I'd just grab them the next day. Granted, they're only $10 worth of chips, but still, I guess it's strange behavior, leaving chips in a stranger's house, which is full of 30 other strangers. Who I've casually "known" on the Internet for 9 months.
It's a great community, and a nice way to live.

A friend said to me:
"You played poker for two days, in some guy's basement, in another state, with 30 people you met on the Internet? That's a little weird"
Yup!

Well if you say it like that hahahahahaha.

There were hundreds of Mapes $5 and $1s at DCS, and I'm pretty sure (hoping) they all made it home to @H|Q .
They did not. :(
Wait a second... chips "went missing" at a meetup?
That is tragic, especially since anyone at a meet up would know how hard those are to replace.

This was very well publicized so I'm surprised at the surprise. But it was one of the failures of DCS5 and made me sick. Every effort was made to recover the 2 x missing $1 chips but no joy. I gave up my sample set as compensation but that can't really cover the loss. Several of my $20 twin spires cash chip customs also came up missing but were recovered when it was discovered someone had packed them with @H|Q's set.

I've also lost chips from other sets, either temporarily or permanently. It's going to happen although hopefully can be mitigated. Many times have had players try to "help" by racking chips and doing what happened to OP, 21 per row. Other times I lost a valuable 1K Argosy tourney chip for weeks until found under furniture. Was missing a T25 and T100 from my BCC Suicide King tourney set for a couple weeks -- players thought that'd be funny to make me sweat. It wasn't. On separate occasions have come up missing a $1, 5, and 20 from my twin spires set, never to return. Had to replace from extras. Once thought I'd lost a $25 Savannah Sun from the mixed set but found it standing up edgewise against the wall of the drop box lol.

Sorry to drop the bomb and not update.

I went missing 3 chips from the event. I don't hold Courage responsible for the missing chips. I brought my set in and understood the risks. It's not really a big deal.

I ended up with 7 of @courage $20 chip by accident. I made a thread about it.

Chips go missing. Order extras

Lol, this was also Mrs. Honda's reaction when I told he I was planning my first excursion to the WCB...

She's like...

"Wait... you're going out of state...to play an illegal card game in some dude's basement... for an entire weekend...with a wad of cash in your pocket... with a bunch of people you met...on the internet?"

Yup!

I think I have 1 or 2 Mapes 1s that you can have Jayson. It's not like I need them since I have all my fake mapes now.

regarding flipupchipup's BCCs ....
There was a chip (a quarter, if I recall) missing from the shipment to him initially from the prior owner. It was discovered when the boxes were opened there at the table. What chips were missing? Were they others?

I never even got to see those Capital chips..... but since they're local, I'm hopeful to get another chance. First I've heard of any shortages. My two sets are still at the Hitching Post - I think they were used at least once, but I wasn't there. Hopefully both still intact with dealer buttons.

I have lost exactly three chips in over 10 years of hosting events (both here at home and at other people's houses). First two chips went missing for over a year, then were found when the people redecorated their living area (one stuck in a couch, the other under a rug). I lost another one (same house) last month......hasn't turned up yet. Paramedics were called that evening when a player had a seizure at the table. I'm hoping the EMT didn't take a souvenir.

I helped uncork the Cap Rooms (awesome chipping experience BTW, since I strongly considered trying to find a way to buy them myself - then 2 days later I'm helping unbox them. :)) The shipment appeared to be short 1x $0.25 and an indeterminate number (maybe 5-ish each?) of the $25s and bounty chips, per what was advertised. Of course, I had only my memory of the listing to go on; @flipupchipup I'm sure has accounted for what there was supposed to be vs. what there was by now.

I did not hear of any of the chips going missing DURING the meetup... that would be really unfortunate. I've personally only ever lost a chip once, and it was found the next day under a couch.

I tried to get flipupchip to sell me some 5s, 25s, 39mm 100s. (didn't work) I can spare a couple fracs if his rack is short.

Ive only lost 1 chip of a set at my games, an oak tree 1. I'm sure it rolled somewhere, but was easy enough to replace.

I've also had a few chips missing after a game, and a simple email to everyone in attendance usually had the unsuspecting person finding it in a pocket.

I did have about $80 worth of MD Live! Chips taken from my place. They were harvested on opening day, right after they officially opened the table games. I'm sure someone took them and cashed them in/gambled them away.

Happy to say that all Capital Room chips are accounted for - had 2 brief periods when a $1 went missing while playing OFCP with @inca911 and @Poker Zombie, but turned up later in another rack (after counting them all out twice). The other instance was a BCC greek mold bounty chip that mysteriously turned back up once a few people were put on the alert  :ROFLMAO: Not sure on the story there but no missing chips. Had a blast opening them up with @Jeff and @Ben and then later christening them with late-night circus games!
