Seeking feedback on Card Mold Cash and Tourney sets (1 Viewer)

Yeah, I mentioned above that I think I'm subconsciously ripping stuff off from the beautiful chipdust set (which of course is itself a stardust tribute)
You did a great job ! Well done.

This is for me a great illustration of the difference between a knock off and a tribute.
By looking at your set we know you gave tribute to the StarDust chips without having to copy it.
@aggie and @upNdown this is for me a good example of a good usage of the cards mold platform. It'd be a good counter example in the other thread ahah.

Many will say that I'm repeating too many colors and it's true, but I don't think I care and I think it's mostly being done in a safe way while creating a theme throughout the lineup.

You could also do white or grey on the quarter maybe.

Fan of any of those 25¢

So simple, so obvious, so true! I don't know how I didn't realize this. I'm sold. And with the shaped inlay I'm using, it just feels perfect.

New denom font, I like it better I think. I think I'm about done with this one:

All 39mm or maybe big chips on $20 and $100?

I like the top row

Good question. I have a couple of cards mold sets where I went 43mm for the large denoms but we haven't played them yet. I like the idea and the look of it. I don't love that they take different racks and I imagine it makes fitting them in the Harbor Freight Apache cases I like to use a little more awkward (haven't cased these up yet).

I'm torn

I haven't had an issue with my 3800. Top row middle and put it in tight.

Strongly advise dropping the unnecessary .00 on the $1 chip, and moving it to the center to match the other denoms. The common red denom helps tie the set together.

The grey/pink 25c quarter-pie looks great.

Good observation

In the earliest mockups the $1 was without the "00" and I didn't love the balance of it. At one point both the $1 and the $5 had them.

I've not ruled out removing them. Do you have arguments other than the obvious "it's inconsistent with the other chips" that I should be considering?

I prefer these, too. Still not decided but maybe 60/40 classic red denoms

Thanks! I'm really happy with it (and all the base/spot colors, honestly) to the point where this was just a design exercise and now I'll likely not be able to resist having these made.

Also, credit @SeanGecko and @harrysallout for the development of the frac. I was tending towards just solid and their ideas put me over the top.

Also, latest:

I can’t unsee the unnecessary .00 now.

Otherwise this is a fantastic design. Love the $20 and $100.

Fwiw my players HATE a $20 label. I had to relabel mine bc we kept making mistakes. I’d recommend the $25 if the chip gets lot of action (frequent $50-$200 bet). If not, and it’s a .25/.50 game you should be fine.

You need to create rolling edge artwork for those; I suspect you won't like the way the $100 chip looks in stacks.

Given the amount of high constrast present in the other chips, you might consider replacing the orange spot with another color (and pethaps making it a bit smaller, allowing more base color to shine through). I'd try a half-moon charcoal spot for starters.

Besides consistency, I think the .00 adds unnecessary clutter, making it harder to read. Improved readibility is another reason I'd center it, too.

I absolutely love the .25, 1, and 5 a lot!
I feel the 20 & 100 don’t fit for some reason, maybe the thinner spots on the 20 and the orange on red.
Maybe use the spot pattern on the 100 to the 20? Chances are you won’t really use a $100 in a .25/.50 game
I like the red denom and agree with @BGinGA on the $1. I’d like to see what it looks like without the .00

Agreed. Having it squished over to the right detracts from the chip. If the 1.00 were centered and fit, it might be worth keeping as a style choice (filling out an otherwise narrow 1).

Agree with @BGinGA

The 00 should be dropped on the $1 and centered. Also like the red font better. Ties the set together and makes its easier to read as well.

Thank you, everyone, for the detailed feedback. Lots to consider.

Here's the $1 without the double-aught in all it's (boring imo) glory:

and a quick rolling edge render (of which I don't hate the $100 edge and think it'll look good to fine in stacks):

How’s it look if you add the 00 and center?

Underground Rules here, the $20 stays.

BOTH???

Resistance is futile.
