What a screwy night. Hero drove two hours to play $1/$2 PLO in an underground cardroom at the invitation of his friend who got called into work.

Hero arrived ten minutes late to discover that the players had voted to play hi/lo. Hero certainly didn't expect his first hi/lo game would be against a table full of unknowns. Two hours from home, what is Hero to do?

The game had a $5 rock that would go the winner that could be played UTG or from the button. The player with the rock could pass it to the player UTG or on the button if he was out of position to use it, or he could hold onto it until he was UTG, at which time he would be forced to play it. The rock was in effect for roughly 80% of the hands. On the button, the SB would act first, then the BB, etc.

Highlight of the night for Hero came when a player asked if everyone was okay with playing a double board $10 bomb pot before he cashed out, which resulted in lots of action. Hero made Broadway on a non flush, no low board to scoop half the pot, and the nut low on the second board to chop with a player who hit quad fives on the river.

All in all, lots of fun.
