And to add to this - yes I know I take this design stuff way too seriously. It’s clay disks.

But I fucking love it and get a ton of enjoyment and fulfillment from the challenge of it. Shoot me.

I don’t even know how to go about this anymore. @kk405 has been one of the best sellers, if not THE best seller on the site since he came. I’m usually completely against the flipping scheme, but I’ve seen Ken’s generosity abused in the past. He sells at cost, only for someone to scoop the chips and instantly flip. The old, “I’ve gone in another direction routine.” I would much rather see Ken and John reap the rewards than the back door scammers.

That’s the whole problem, though. How do you prevent the incessant screwers from getting involved if Ken sells at reasonable costs? It will be no different than the TCR flippers. Some members just want playable sets to use, but have a hard time acquiring because of those that load up on everything only to fleece those that want to put them to use.

Even flippers are created differently. Some find some good stuff and then sell reasonably. Then there are the likes of the eBay vendor that wants to suck every stinking cent out of every possible person he can. Most people know what he does and the lengths he goes to to try to screw people, but there are plenty of unsuspecting (or willfully open to the abuse).

Somebody is going to profit, so my hope is that it would be Ken for as generous as he’s always been.

I absolutely 100% support the public sale. Even if I priced out I’ll still support it. The behind the scenes bullshit is what divides this community. If you want to sell chips behind the scenes and keep them within a close group do what others like @bergs and other did.

I really hope previously owning any of the "direct" buy chip sets excludes one from entering the upcoming sale or at the very least puts you at the bottom of the list...... :cool


As a previous owner of exactly zero direct buy sets, I'm finally ready to taste some of the proverbial forbidden fruit and spread some of their love in the land down under!

Oh actually, if somebody wanted to be a good deed doer, they could track members sales in the classifieds and see exactly who resells at cost, and then sell to them at cost, with confidence.
Not that I expect anybody to do that - I’ve been a staunch resell at cost guy, but you can bet if I laid out the capital for a venture like this, even I’d be looking for a profit.

But let’s not say you can’t do something - most people who have been here for a few years could handpick buyers they could trust.

Eat your sale and GFY while your at it. Don’t need your chips.

Definitely some truth to that, but you still have so many that do it in the dark that it’s nearly impossible to keep track.

Knowing Ken, I can almost guarantee he didn’t take on this endeavor to line his pockets, but I would much rather see his lined than those reallyawfulusers that are primarily here to shove it to as many people as they can.
 
I HATE eBay sellers that do that. I’ll also give the biggest shoutout to @RivieraDanny though as an example of a good seller and PCF member. He pulled his ad of eBay and sold it to me for a lower cost than it was listed to help me get another chips for my LV Inn set. That and the fact theater all of my Paris chips were sold AT COST by Danny earns him a spot at the top of the best chippers list.

I agree I'm not a sell at cost crusader! I don't normally buy and sell chips for the profit, if I did Id be broke! nor should this group or guy whoever do it for nothing, A lot of work and logistics went into this Im sure I just despise the 20-30X profit guys who fleece the community... but by the other token, the buyers paid the extorted prices so who's the problem? The frequency of GPI buys has increased and the players change so it leads me to believe, while I haven't invested serious time and effort into a buy myself, that it is not as hard as some would have you believe, probably not as easy as some think but more about the profits they're (certain other gb'ers) trying to protect. Come on now it is spoken here regularly that people believe GPI looks at PCF.... If they did they wouldn't let this happen so often, its an 87 BILLION dollar company, they like money too... Even if I get no chips from this sale I have to say I feel warmer about this one and just dirty from all the others.
