So it Begins... (9 Viewers)

These chips are nice, but there is a lot of freaking out in here I don't understand. These are just the next shiny thing. How can these be the GOAT? I mean I don't even know what the fuck is a Tiger Palace is?

My best guess is, it's just a place to store your money for the people that put these together.

I’d love to see your collection, given how long you’ve been around!

Just some quick and dirty pics (basement isn’t finished yet) not including the random racks and singles that are around the house. My AS hotstamp set is at a buddies house. It’s smaller than these sets (800) but it has a nice breakdown

It’s just how people interact. Most people can’t resist a good circle jerk.
These are very cool chips, but I’d be lying if I said they were as interesting today as they were a week ago. (But they’re probably still worth every penny, pending price of course.)
Did someone say "circle jerk"?

I really need a display cabinet … mine are all crammed together!

I must say a nice 600 Tiger Palace set would look nice sitting on top :)

I was just thinking that. I've got all mine on the family bookshelf and I know my wife would be happy to not have to look at them everyday.

Plus, the current storage solution sure makes it hard for her not to notice when I get a new set... :ROFLMAO:

Looks like a lot of old “next shiny thing” in this cabinet, I can understand the saltiness.

Cool cabinet. I have something similar. I picked them up at a used office furniture place in Wilmington, DE about 8-9 years ago. They had about a dozen of them. I went back 2 weeks later to get a 3rd and they were all sold. :(

My main chip cabinet has been taken over by train stuff temporally.

The other one I hid in the closet under the steps.

Can we go ahead and vote this thread "best use of gifs and memes for 2022?" Great stuff in here.

Much praise to all involved in making this happen. As others have said, very cool chips all around.

2023, the home games forum better be popping off with pics of these!
My thoughts exactly. ALSO, who was it back on page 1-2 of this thread that said they are buying these chips for their home game in the Bay Area? This would be the only time I'd considering paying a rake or an entry fee to a home game, just to play with these chips :cool

This chip isn't getting enough love in the last few pages of people talking about their favorites.

It might be my favorite chip ever.

Sale details withstanding, it's tough to not want to buy a rack of these despite having exactly zero use for them. Goddamn they're so great.
Best chip i've ever seen, hands down.

relabel $1?
Been trying to figure out what I'd. relabel these as.... or just keep the labels and use it as my tourney 5K.

We have a hobby where every single custom design is "amazing", regardless of it's amazing or not. We get countless "amazing chips great sale" comments from people propping up price for chips they own as well without any intent to ever buy at that price. We get post meetup threads where we languish on the amazing qualities of every chipper present, including the tightwad at the table who was grumpy all weekend and never bought a round.

Circle jerking is what PCF does, and I don't mean that negatively. 98% of our membership are the same sex, similar overarching ethnicity, almost all approaching or over 40, almost all with money to spend on poker chips, who all share an affinity for a niche hobby. Familiarity breeds, as others put it, circle jerking (and contempt).
On topic - GOAT consideration

I wouldn't even consider myself a real chipper, so I have no clue what the requirements are for "GOAT" mass custom designed Paulsons. But what I believe to be true is that if you took a set of these chips, along with a set of every other custom mass custom designed Paulson (NABG and such), and gave them to 1000 random people to rank - these would win in a landslide, just purely on aesthetics.

Others may be taking into consideration colors, spot progression, palettes and dirty stacks, styles that are no longer allowed to be produced, added panache of the attached designers name and background, etc. etc. These custom Paulsons are coming from the same person who produced a custom set which was immediately included in the PCF calendar and I would gather a guess will be included in the HoF for customs within it's first year or two of eligibility. That same designer also had a large influence on the hobby as a whole, specifically it's acceptance and surge towards love of HotStamps (yeah yeah, I'm sure all of you just loved them 5 years ago).

He either has "his finger on the pulse" of our community, or people just really like his work. You may not like the style, but it does appear overwhelmingly that this set's designer is not the flavor of the month, but more so the flavor of the last 2-3 years (go ahead and ask him if he's available to design your next custom set, help with a table topper, or give feedback - I'm sure his inbox isn't flooded at all  :ROFLMAO:).

Sure, having 25 out of 52 pages be filled with "I hope I can afford these" or newish members yelling "Oh my gerd" is a bit circle jerking and cringey. But I'd say it's just as cringey to be argumentative just to be argumentative, unless you truly can't understand for any reason why these upon release would be considered in the conversation for GOAT mass custom Paulsons.

They are neon pulsons, literally comprised of all of the brightest and coolest colors, may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but they are the most outrageously colored paulsons in a set that is ever been made. And there’s four sets and they’re all outrageously bright and vibrant.

You may not love them, but to say that it’s not extra ordinary would be lying.

How does this work? New guy here. I've been going through this forum trying to figure out if there is a sale date or whatever. Help me out. :)
No prices or sale date have been announced. The primary vendor has indicated this information will be provided well in advance of an actual sale, but he has not indicated when that information will be publicized. There is a FAQ thread you should probably watch which will likely eventually provide these answers although I suspect it will be hard for you to miss once the information is provided. The actual format of the sale still remains a mystery as well. All I have seen to date is that it will be different than Chip Room sales.

I don't think anyone's saying they're not extraordinary, he's just saying that the brightest/most outrageous colors aren't GOAT just because they're outrageous.

Not that I agree, just separating the two distinctions. I don't use outrageous as a good thing for chips lol.

All depends on how your rods and cones work and what designs look pleasing to your eyes.
If you like bright colors and high contrast with a variety of high level edgespots, these sets are up there among the best.
Though the inlay has no real "history", it is well designed and not a throw away.

Your GOAT may look different than someone else's GOAT

None of the games I’ve been to have a rake in the SJ area. Unless you consider donating toys to kids or having to drink @Godzilla28 ’s bourbon for free as a rake.
