So it Begins... (10 Viewers)

Not sure if this has been asked, but if someone “places” an order during the 24-hour open order period and if when demand exceed supples and the orders go random drawing to see who’s allowed to buy, are the people selected required to buy?

I’d think no one’s obligated to buy if demand outstrips supply, since someone else will gladly pick up the slack, but I don’t want to assume. To maximize chances of getting something from this set I have a feeling that many (most?) will try to buy sets during all three sales, and sell/trade for what they really want…

You may be right, but I hope not…
Good to hear the question/ answer though

I’m not saying people are trying to hoard, though I’m sure some will. But we know demand will exceed supply, most likely A LOT!

So if I’m only interested in the secondary cash set with the quarters, I might as well try for the primary too, and if I get picked for that instead, maybe someone in the reverse situation would just do a straight trade with me, for example.

Poor form imo. Put in for what you want. If you don’t really intend on paying why complicate the process for him? I mean I personally don’t see an issue if you buy a set and then sell/trade it later. They are YOUR chips at that point after all.

But putting your name in the hat when you don’t really plan on buying doesn’t make sense? Not like there is a return policy or something. The sales aren’t the same week so if you get chosen for a hot stamp set how will you know if you will get chosen for a cash set too? Maybe I’m not following the logic correctly here on why anyone would put in with even a slight intention of not actually buying

Edit: ok I see what you are saying for the cash set scenario. I’d personally say just put in for what you want

A healthy deposit only refundable if you are not chosen would discourage this, but what a pain in the arse it would be for the vendor.

The two cash sets are being sold at the same time though which was what made me think of the question. I explained a potential mindset in my last comment.

That's my fear...folks buying multiple raffle tickets, when others just honestly try to buy their preferred set. People might try buy A, B, and C....when all they really want is set A....they win the lottery for set C...and the guy that only put his name in the hat for set C is left in the cold...

Whatever....this is still awesome.

Edit...I'm only putting in for the set I want because I super honest and ethical, for the most part.

Life isn't fair.

In my previous example someone only wants secondary and they play low stakes. Let’s say they don’t try for any primaries as to not take away chances for people who only want primaries.

The tiger tickets allow people to buy more chips, like quarters I presume. So would people also think it was poor form for someone trying for two out of the three secondary sets (or all 3) to maximize chances to get the set they truly want and then to add on quarters and sell off the denoms they won’t need?

Best bathroom wall advice ever.

Not if you actually buy everything you put in for no. We all have different breakdown preferences so I can't fault trying to get there

Not personal at all but I could see members playing all lotteries and flipping the winning tickets for profit.

I think Ken did say he'd limit quantities in the event that demand exceeds supply.

It won't be cheap, but I hope people don't do this and aren't greedy in the name of flipping later on.

Beyond the random draw? As in if someone puts in for and “wins” the right to buy multiple sets in a sale, the person may be limited to buying fewer or only one?

Meh :/ I think it’s a great opportunity for everyone and intentions well stated by the organizers. I hope everyone does what’s right, but people will people I’m sure too. I think the majority are in it for the right reasons, and the folks who try to flip for profit immediately wouldn’t really care how I feel about them anyway. Should be a fun ride either way

Correct. Say I put in to buy a 600 chip primary 0.25/0.50 and a 700 chip 1/2 primary set. If both sets run out of stock based on demand, only one of the two orders will be fulfilled if a draw is won for one or both and only one Tiger ticket for set add ons will be awarded per person.

I also thought I read only $1's and $5's will be available for set add ons. Racks that are in limited supply like the quarters and upper denoms will only be sold in sets for now.

I could be totally wrong on this so take all of this with a pinch of salt...

Thanks everyone. Sorry for stirring up the tiger’s nest. Just want to reiterate everyone’s compliments on the set @JeepologyOffroad and @kk405 and the latter for running the sale fairly. I just like to think of all the scenarios out there to see what I might be up against, because if I can think of it then others already have too.

And yes, thank you Ken and John for bringing these to the community and for the fair and equitable chance to own a piece of these. It'll be a bummer if I miss out, but I'm going to try to get a piece of these! I will only be trying for one set. Screenshot this if needed, but I'm true to my word. If I get chosen or not it is what it is.

I'd also hope that people just put in for what they actually want. I won't presume to give Ken advice on how to run his sales though - he's probably given it far more thought than any of us here. I only want a secondary cash set, so that's what I'll put in for.

I will say, I'd love to see a "no flipping" oath for those fortunate to pick up a set, even if it's only symbolic and, for all intents and purposes, unenforceable.

A deposit would be a good idea to enter drawing to prevent someone just winning a drawing and then flipping their position to buy?

Probably too much work and may not really offer any help actually.

I kinda lost interest in this thread so I apologize if suggestions are getting over kill. Totally understand the amount of work this must be for Ken.
