Someone please explain the DIBS system here in the Classifieds/m2m (2 Viewers)

Dibs comes from the Latin verb “dibsere,” which means “to claim the right of purchase.” It also has a second declension noun form, “dibsus,” which means “cause of anger and shit posting.”

Personally, if I’ve forgotten about posting “post dibs in thread then pm” and someone pm’ing beats someone else out who posted publicly within the first few minutes, I’ve sent them a screenshot of the pm (blocking who it’s from) just to ease their mind.

Not directed at anyone specifically, I just see both come up a lot:
- No one anywhere on here that I’ve ever seen has said someone cannot do XYZ with their own chips. To anyone saying what’s wrong or right or should have been done, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone state it as a mandate (as if it could be enforced).
- Not sure why there’s still debate on what “dibs” means. It’s clear it just means different things to different people. I’ve found helps to avoid confusion to clarify it in sales thread.

I took way too many latin classes, but because you made it an infinitive, it was believable and I had to look it up.

I've resorted to showing a timestamp on the first PM with a shrug emoji.

Always thought it meant, "Dude, Imma Buy, Seriously."
