Sometimes when I watch poker I feel like I don't understand poker (1 Viewer)

I’m familiar with this game which decisions can I help provide insight for

From what I've gathered from various vloggers and these TCHLive broadcasts are the following for Texas games:

1. Fuck your top pair, I raise $30,000 with air.

2. Looks to be way better / easier to be a pro in the Lonestar state than it is in Las Vegas.

That Bildo is a freaking idiot and nobody can convince me otherwise.
No, no, he's just experiencing some run bad, that's all. He needs to stick to his current strategy of being a human ATM. It'll pay off for him someday.

Someday...

Yep, I've experienced that first hand a bazillion times at 1/2NL. Get it in, get called by a donk with a three outer who spikes it and racks up a few hands later.

In other news, I hate poker.
Seems like it happens almost every hand I play. Standard play is I get all the money in good 90% of the time & get drawn out on 90% of the time.

You see less of this meatheadedness in tournaments . . .

Btw if y’all wanna groupbuy some action I’ll try to get a seat. I’ll throw in 10 but would only sit with at least 15 with another 15 back.

This is pretty sick stuff....
I will say that playing a lot of live limit, even at pretty big stakes, I see this sort of stuff seemingly all the time. Poker is sick!!!

This type of garbage style is extremely prevalent in Texas. Can’t speak much for other areas but my many visits to Vegas, and Louisiana are nothing compared to play NLH at a card house in Texas.

Not sure if it’s the $12/hr seat fee or the Texas heat but people are crazy. They get lucky once on the River and other Jack-o’s at the table feel that’s justification enough to play the same way.

Strictly tournament play for me when amongst these strangers. I play poker because of the enjoyment from various strategies and angles players take. This is not strategy, it’s stupid.

It’s easy to make money. Simply fold until you have the nuts, get paid, repeat. Extremely boring to play with and these people are always the kind that refuse to speak to others, often wear shades, hat down, hoodie on, music loud enough to hear from their headphones across the table, and don’t ever tip the dealer.

They said on one stream where they play big because some people have that oil money down there, since it's big in the state as well as many businesses around the metro cities.

Not entirely sure if that's true, or just people trying to represent Texas when it comes to Texas Hold'em.

I think that's just people trying label Texas as oil and cattle and it's just silly. I live in Corpus Christi, TX. The Port of Corpus Christi is the largest crude oil export port in the United States and our largest card room has 3 tables. If there were any correlation to big oil and throwing money around like that, the thousands of employees with Valero, Citgo, Exxon, etc. etc. would probably warrant more than 3 tables at a very small location.

I can't speak for the level of stakes from the videos above but regular $1-$2 games have players who use the same "style" and they probably do it because of the hourly fees for the seat, coupled with the fact that Texas card rooms can't take rake, meaning more doesn't go to the House the bigger the pot.
