Stolen Chips! Please keep an eye out. (1 Viewer)

My concern would be that if he contacts eBay, they may tip off the seller, and further complicate finding the thief. Although I'm not sure eBay's process for stolen goods...
I guess it's possible but I'd take my chances.
I would also call them directly and discuss the situation over the phone with a supervisor. It's amazing what they will do over the phone vs through the app.
You can also provide them with the detectives information, that will let them know the situation is escalated beyond a he said she said statement.
My guess would be if they sell they can provide more information directly to the detective and you won't lose track of them

So my only question, if your car was in an apartment complex parking lot, you mean to tell me the building, parking lot, or any other surrounding building have 0 cameras that could have possibly caught footage of the robbery?

I do hope the detective is able to do something to move a resolution in the right direction.
I would still consider contacting eBay, even if they do nothing, it is in your favor that you have reported a listing with your stolen items.
Really sucks this has happened to you, I'm sorry that you're having to deal with all the hassle
Not trying to answer for the OP but I’ve lived in an apartment complex with dummy cameras set up all over. Someone had a break in and that’s how the whole complex found out they were fake. So much for discouraging crime in the neighborhood. Lol.

OK, I'm tapping out so the wanna be lawyer can officially claim a W... SMH

OP, wish you the best of luck!

Stuffly, if you want a different opinion/point of view, you're welcome to PM me.

DMack, Stay Safe over there!

The apartment complex, $850 a month, does not have ANY cameras in the parking lot. They also don’t have a functional gate which would be nice since the area isn’t the best. They claim to have security, but I have never seen them. When I asked the apartment manager if they had cameras he offered this reassuring response, “We are looking at getting the gate fixed!”. The gate has NEVER worked. It worked for the move in week so when parents were there. A few weeks after that it never worked. I have also had 2, not 1 but 2, packages lost/stolen while at this apartment. I have been here 1 semester. For comparison I have been in this hobby for nearly 2 years and have had packages shipped to both my home address and a a UPS store on campus. In that time I had ZERO packages lost, stolen, or otherwise manipulated. This complex sucks.

Nice. That's a cruddy situation. I'm sure they could care less that your things were taken too. :cautious:
Any businesses near by? I would assume he didn't walk down the street carrying your things, but if any other surrounding buildings have cameras it's worth bringing up with the detective to see if a random corner camera or even stop light camera could've caught a clip of something

There aren’t any businesses that are close. It’s kinda in the worst place for getting an unintended picture just because it’s also out of view of any red lights.

Highly inconvenient  that's extra frustrating

Here's some more links that may be helpful. Let me know if you can view them
From what I've read it's relatively important that the detective files the forms and submits to eBay

Looks like there's some links and forms available you can work with the detective to fill out and provide images/pictures of your things

Reporting to eBay (IMO) makes it less likely he gets the situation resolved. If someone else buys the chips (OP already said the price is outrageous), he maybe could get them back. Short of that, what? The account gets suspended, the thief gets spooked and becomes harder to locate?

I can view both the forms. Thank you as well because I’m going to ask the detective to report it to eBay tommrow.

If the detective reports it then they’ll give him all the contact information and the address. So even if it gets pulled you’ll have enough to locate him.

You're welcome. Hopefully it helps.
If you're concerned about tipping off the seller and him removing the listing I understand, but I'd honestly be more concerned with him dumping the stolen items if he becomes flaky.
I would prefer to have his personal information available to the detective and risk the listing coming down.
You could also ask the detective to request eBay not take an executive action like removing the listing or notifying the seller unless it is a required code of conduct that they cannot avoid.

Yes. Squeaky wheel. You are gonna have to push the cops.

Could someone buy, leave negative feedback saying they are stolen, then not pay?

Could dispute it on your CC at minimal and if you have a great track record I think ur CC would side with you. U Could claim their counterfeit. But then ur essentially committing fraud.

Well that's shiesty, but not surprising either. I guess that's the definition of doing "the bare minimum"

Never underestimate how cheap landlords can be. The stories I could tell. Not trying to derail the thread though. lol.

Ill bet with all the money he saved he could’ve bought a fake guard dog barking device. You can never be too cautious.

I saw these re-listed at $350 a little while ago, but when I just checked, they are gone (marked by eBay as "best offer accepted").

Don't know what this might mean as far as getting these back to their rightful owner, but something I saw during my usual eBay orbit.
Damn didn't think they'd sell. He has marked items sold and then resisted them though so he might do that.
