Tales from the Hitching Post (7 Viewers)

Haha that's awesome. It totally wouldn't be a problem for me either - I have an actual business, and no unloading/turnaround issues. They could even pull the truck right up to the "loading dock," aka porch.

I'm always on the lookout for new chairs myself, but it's really tough to beat what I've got at anything resembling a reasonable cost. :(

The cost was a bitter pill to swallow. Chairs cost too damn much.

Looks awesome!! I wouldn't have bothered stepping foot in that run-down degenerate back alley establishment until now. :D I can't express in words just how sweet that place looks.

Chairs are my primary concern for Denver. Tables probably won't be an issue. Yours look great, don't tell me what they cost.

Probably can't make it out (google street view), but it's Hitching Post Plaza (complete with a liquor store). Next time I get a pizza I'll have to take a picture so you can see the inlay for your next commemorative chip.

Brilliant move on the phone call. I had a similar experience once. I was buying tickets for the US Open (tennis), and the woman said they only sold those seats to clubs. I told them I was from the Nolensville Tennis Club. Not only did they release the seats to me, They wined and dined us excessively during the rain delay, and our seats wern't just great, but we were 1 row in front of Jimmy Connors (who was coaching Andy Roddick at the time).

I guess the moral of the story is, never try to restrict sales to a poker player. Their bluffs over the phone are smooth as silk.

As for chair costs, you just cant beat quality. I've had chairs break under some of my larger players, but my efforts to build a chair were even more abysmal. $pend, $pend, Spend. It's the only way to win with chairs.

I am the worst at changing calendar pages on time, so I just now turned the page to October and was very glad to see this fine set. Love them all, but that cash hundo is really something and I have always loved the T5k.

Hope to donk off a few buy-ins with these one day, Tom!

This really is the most epic home game ever. So cool.

When are you hosting the World Series of PCF...

I hate The Hitching Post, because I don't think I'll ever have a poker room a third as nice as that in my life, and it depresses me. Truly amazing setup, I think my problem is

So a quick story. My main table chairs were great looking but of cheap construction. I got them from Overstock.com and swear that one broke every other month. (2 during the Shootout)

Enough was enough so I decided I needed to get some chairs that would last. Asthetic was important as well. I decided to search restaurant supply stores as I wanted some durability. I ended up buying from a place that only sells business to business. I had given them my name but they told me they needed to know the business name they were shipping to so without missing a beat I told them The Hitching Post. The lady's response was "Oh I thought you were in California." (There is a Hitching Post Restaurant in California. A scene from the movie Sideways is set inside it.)

Long story short the chairs arrived today on an 18 wheeler. The deliverer looks bewildered as he expected a business and a loading dock. I tell him just hand them to me and you're good. So here are the new seats at the main table.

Good looking chairs! I have to admit that this was the biggest sticking point for me when putting together a room. Chairs are so flipping expensive. For those that are looking, I did find a small lot from Gassers that were deeply discounted and I was able to make an offer that was accepted. They were still expensive, but I expect them to last a lifetime. Also, if the grunge factor doesn't bother you, there are always remaindered chairs available in the Vegas area. It bothered me, but some may not care. A little lysol goes a long way!

The chairs are the one thing that really made me wince at how expensive they are. I don't know, I can get on board with shelling out big money for custom chips and tables but the chairs hurt.

The Gassers can run a pretty penny! I also couldn't find any of them that fit the look I wanted.

I will be sure to let out an audible sigh every time I sit, just so you know my butt appreciates you :D

I had to sacrifice on the fabric when I bought mine. I liked them, but I would have chosen differently.

Not my night, obv. :( River the nut flush, only to have the Ts make a boat for villain's flopped set of fours. Two hands later, flop broadway straight only to lose to quad 10's on the turn. Re-buy, then promptly run KK into AT all-in with a T on the flop and river. Srsly?

Where do I buy one of those Hitching Post horseshoes that everybody else seems to have up their bums?

I had another of my patented no traction but manage to grind out a mediocre 8 out of 25. I was crazy active in the rebuy period and it managed to net me a grand total of 1000 extra chips. Then lost every significant hand at the final table.
