The handmade corks are cool.
It's very good. There are many others that are good too, but for a lower price.

I hope you didn't have to pay crazy inflated prices for it. I enjoyed this when it was $45/bottle.

The price was less than I was expecting. Definitely not $45 though. :ROFLMAO: It is a very good blanco. I would love to get ahold of some still strength!

The Still Strength is VERY good.

To date, my fave high proof is Calle 23.
That's a bottle I wish I bought more than two of. Impossible to find since it was a limited run.

I know this is not all tequila but I just wanted to share my haul from today! I am beyond excited that I was able to finally add some Fortaleza Still Strength to my collection!!!

These are my two favorite sippers on the market. I highly recommend them to anyone that wants to test the Extra Anejo market of tequilas.

Cava de Oro - extra anejo
Adictivo - extra anejo

Yikes - lot's of sugar or agave sweetener added to those. These can be nice after dinner sippers. All of their expressions are sweetened.

This is not a criticism of what you like - if you like sweet drinks, or liquers, this is it.

If you don't like sweetened liquor or adulterated tequila, these are like pancake syrup.

+1 on the Cava de Oro, it’s one of my current favorites. I’ll have to try the others pictured when I have the chance.

@jazzV3 how does one know if a tequila is adulterated or not? Just taste?

Everyone has their own opinions, I’m not here to argue, just sharing what I like and what I recommend.
Yes they are sweet, if that is something you enjoy, these are for you.

No argument here either. I have purchased both and sometimes also enjoy a sweet sipper nightcap or after dinner, with a cigar, etc..

I was just commenting as these are not typical of the XA style of tequila.
A few favorite XAs with more barrel influence:
  • Tears of Llorona (bourbon like)
  • Rey Sol XA (original XA)
  • Gran Centenario Leyenda (Cuervo product - light additives)

A few ways to tell, taste being one.
If a tequila has a heavy vanilla taste or is "overly" sweet, has an oily feel, or has prominent aromas of cake batter or candy, it very likely has additives.

Another quickie test is to rub a little between your hands. If there's any residue or stickiness on your hands, that's the additives in the tequila.
Like this:

A well made, additive free tequila will have more natural agave flavor.
Some of the most expensive tequilas have significant additives.

There are many modestly priced tequilas that are very good and additive free.
Lalo is an example. Experiment and drink what you like!

Mezcals are such an interesting topic. I've wanted to make my own for a long while now but the agave takes so long to grow and it's a long lead time up to something that can be easy to mess up. Will be combing this thread for suggestions =)

I like Mezcals for mixing to add the smokey flavor to a margarita but I haven't tried any just to sip on.
If anything I'll combine 2-3 oz's of a blanco or reposado with 0.5 oz. of mezcal, add ice and sip. Don't knock it til you try it.

Really?
You were in mortgage business? One of my guys is the nephew of one of his retired LOs.
Small world...

It was funny to see Rondi's "side gig" evolve.

Want to go down a whole new rabbit hole?
Explore mezcals - some amazing variety out there for sipping.
The range of flavor profiles is crazy.

Yes! I still am unfortunately slinging mortgage's while he makes drinks. We worked at HomeBridge together. I was there for 17 years and him only 1-2 but we live a few towns from each other.

I can't afford the contents but I REALLY want this bottle

Damn $12k, was interested until I saw the price tag. I’m going to try to the extra anejo Patron. States it doesn’t have additives that everyone appears to be complaining about. I don’t mind them and I love me a sipper tequila (sweet).
