Ready! Finally a Xmas tree in the house, after more than a decade.

Went to Lego House in Billund, Denmark this summer. Pretty cool place! Our 3 yo daughter enjoyed it a lot, as did we. Lots of fun to play with and see.

I think they said this giant tree is the largest Lego construction in the world, with something like 8 million pieces. (Edit, apparently it is 6,3 million pieces) Several stories high as you can see. (My daughter wanted to help a little, lol.)

After taking a bit of a break from building after finishing the Titanic, I started the McLaren F1 car a couple weeks ago. As frustrating as parts of the Titanic build were (portholes and cabin windows for those who have and even haven't built it...), this car has some challenges that a times has felt like I need a third hand or that prehensile tail I keep hoping I sprout to be able to hold pieces in place before making the final snap of a connection.

That said, it's beautifully detailed, starting with one of the first parts of the build, the rear axle.

Working suspension pieces (that I hope loosen up as the build continues), a connected engine with working pistons attached through a lovely little functioning differential!!!

The picture here doesn't do it justice. Seeing it work exactly as one would expect is the remarkable part.

I finally bit the bullet after the holidays and spent some fantasy football winnings on this beauty!!! It was a fun build!!! I am a huge Stones fan so knew it was only a matter of time until I added this set to my collection. Lots of little dots in the 60 that just all gets covered up once you finish the full build. Now I just need to find a place to hang it on the wall!!!

Not a typical build, but certainly the most meaningful. My dad died when I was young, over 18 years ago, but one of the earliest memories I have was building a knight's castle set. We learned later it was the 6080 set. For my wife's/my anniversary, she purchased this old set that came out in 1984. Turned out great.

Oh wow! Must have cost a fortune, congrats!

Let me know should you need extras (figs, shields, horses, weapons...) to expand it.

For X-Mas 2021, I offered my bro this ship.

When we were children, I threw a small bone in the ship and our dog destroyed it. Siince then my brother never re-built it, the sails were in bad.shape, ...

So more than 20 years later I re-bought it and added a small boat with Jack Sparrow and captain brickbeard.

I still have this set at my parents house back home - it was my absolute favourite thing to play with growing up!

For Christmas this year, my wife gave me the newest Lego Castle as a gift. Probably the best gift I’ve received in recent years - was a blast to put together.

Ten hours of build time and a completely unreasonable amount of cursing later, the McLaren F1 car is finally done.

Lots of little details, as one might expect for a Technic set. I mentioned the functioning differential in an earlier post, but the suspension is fully functional, and incredibly instructive to see how a double-wishbone suspension goes together and works!

AD-LEGOF1-engine.jpeg

The engine is connected through the differential and the design has the pistons exposed (unlike the real car  :ROFLMAO: ) so when the car gets driven across a table, they respond through the connection to the tires.

In case you wondered, LEGO does list the tire sizes for some of their larger tires.

For a fun piece of useless trivia, LEGO is the largest manufacturer of tires in the world (or at least was in 2011).

This set is listed as 18+, and I don't think it's so much that it's necessarily that difficult, but this one definitely tested my patience at times. I can imagine some younger builders might not have that level of patience and might not have the full command of cursing to properly vent the frustration when that patience is being tested. There were times I easily could have used a third hand or that prehensile tail I've been wishing for just to hold things together while trying to make the final connection to click an assembly into place. I'm glad I do most of my building after hours at my office as the neighbors in the suite next door might have wondered who I was berating with the stream of F-bombs I let loose at times.

Curse you LEGO. You know exactly how to weasel yourself into my wallet!

When I was a wee lad, I dropped my meager allowance into PAC-MAN machines more times than I dare try to count. To have a LEGO PAC-MAN machine checks two boxes from my youth and an instant buy when this was announced. :ROFLMAO:

I was about to start building the roller coaster, but I think this will bump it in the build order.

The "maxi-fig" will be a build I'll take to the observatory next month. Monsoon/thunderstorm season is coming soon and it should be a compact enough build I can take it with me and build when I'm waiting for the weather to break or clear.

Photo is with them on my "build station", again at my office where I usually do my builds. A couple of my favorite pieces of animation art are on the wall in this photo.

I'm going to have to buy some shelves to start putting all these builds on. I'm running out of space in my office to stash them.

Very close to ordering this. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!
