49 bounty chips? Check!
View attachment 449544
I’ve run out of my Royals chips! Added 25 seating chips. Over 1300 in total. Do I dare try the plaques???

I found 5 more orange chips hiding in another rack! For some perspective on height, those are 15 Matsui racks. So the Tigerhawk Tower is almost 17 Matsui racks tall!

Not a waste of time building this; was time well spent! Fantastic!

@CRAW - mine only saw felt twice before LOCKDOWN! I spent time on each one, giving plenty of rest time in between. So far, they've held up great. No re-oiling from me nearly 3 months later.

My oiled chips haven’t gotten chalky again. I probably over-oiled my chips, but I let them sit for 3-4 days on paper towels before flipping and sitting another 3-4 days. Then I wiped the chip centers before racking them. They lost the extreme shine they had (I assume they absorbed more oil since that initial oiling), but they still look very good. Since I have nothing better to do these days, I might give them a barrel edge oiling just to re-gain that shine.

over the past 6 months or so I've been wanting to upgrade my cash set from slugged chips to something semi custom. I keep coming back to the royals. Full custom CPC is expensive, so I was thinking royals with some custom labels might fit the upgrade and budget. cant seem to decide on what chip combination to go with, so I wanted to get some thoughts.

I like opt 3
2 reasons opt 4 might not work is what others were saying: dirty stack plus not sure when those pinks will be available.
I made 2 cash sets:

still trying to decide a good color scheme if i wanted to keep more of the yellows in play. red looks good for 25c, here are some other ideas

In case you have stack height OCD, just be aware that the red and yellow are slightly thicker than the rest.

Have you played much with yours though? I played with mine once for a five hour cash game after oiling them the first time, and like I mentioned, they eventually got a bit chalky looking. Now, in my quarantine state, I've been shuffling some of the recently re-oiled chips and they too seem like they're losing some of their luster on the face of them, and I'm afraid they too will go back to being chalky. Maybe it's my oil? I know I'm putting plenty on.

FWIW I bought this:

@CRAW - mine saw about 10 hours of play before the lockdown, and they're still doing great. I definitely over-oiled them (because it was my first time). Compressed the hell out of each chip until my cloth looked like a rainbow. Each chip then sat for 1 day on a paper towel, then flipped, then another day. Finally, edge oiling before going in the rack.

I just looked it up. Apparently pharmaceutical grade mineral oil has to be free of all impurities.

And no, I haven't even had a chance to play a single game with my new chips yet. Which is why I'm spending my time building chip towers and fortresses.

From everything I've read about china clays, though, over time, just the act of people handling the chips will take away any chalkiness.

No clue. For chip oiling purposes, probably no difference.
Was wondering if you or anyone else had the same problem with the yellow chips. I ordered red, yellow, blue and white barrels, cause I'm picky with having stacks being the same level or at least close. The yellows are nearly a half a chip taller in a barrel stacked with the other colors and the blue are a hair shorter than the white and reds which isnt a big deal cause it's pretty close but the yellows noticeably taller. Question is has this been the norm since theses came out and will or could it get better with a newer batch?

Yes, I have the same issue. I always thought it was mostly a problem with the yellows. Then I took a picture of a barrel of each chip, lined up side by side. Now I'm thinking the blues are just shorter than the rest of the chip colors. The whites also seem slightly shorter than the rest, but not as much as the blues.

For me, it was only the red chips. I first noticed it when they wouldn't fit into my 43mm racks, but the others did.

I have all of the Royals except for the pinks and greys, and the reds, greens, and yellows are the thickest of the bunch, and the blues are the thinnest. Whites seem to be about in the middle.

That being said the reds, greens and yellows feel the best to me.

Odd request here: but with the powers of @Himewad @Poker Zombie and the like, I think you can make it possible!! Is there anyone that can take an extremely high resolution picture of each Royals chip in excellent lighting? I reached out to Josh at Apache for color codes for base colors/edge spots, but I’m not certain he has that information (even so people could use the color picker feature). I think it’d be great for anyone color matching their labels.

My example here is that I want the “100” to be the base yellow, and the background to be the edge spot pink. What do you guys think?

Reach out to @Gear and/or @BR Pro Poker ... they make custom labels.
