I thought the violence was gratuitous and a little bit over the top. I know they're paying a bit of fan service to comic readers with that, but I'd submit that fully half the audience knows nothing of the comics.
And Rick, WTF, dude??? You had him all alone in a trailer and wait until he's expecting it to make a move for him??? You let him get all the way back to the group where he has your people outmanned and outgunned?
Lastly, the symbolism with the bat in Rosita's face was just a bit too cute for me. Simmer down, director. We get it, she's cute, loved to the dude who just got killed, and now a "tougher" guy can wave his "bat" in her face. Stop it.

Finally watched the season premier last night. Jesus this show is fucking horrible. The writing and the acting are so laughably terrible that I can't believe it's not trolling everyone at this point.
The Leftovers did literally everything this show is trying to do in terms of story and character, but a billion times better and with excellent writing and acting.

Appreciate the recommendation, but there is a 0% chance I will read the comics. Not because I'm opposed to reading comics (I don't, but I would), but because these characters and the story generally has been too tainted by the show for me and there's so much other great stuff I need to get to in my "to read" pile.
I understand what you mean... and the other way around is true too, last year I decided to get back into the comic (and the books) just so that I could get the real characters back in my mind, rather than the watered down TV ones....

Only the Walking Dead could take what should be the emotional high drama of main character deaths and kill it with 50 minutes of meandering bullsh1t.
A decent drama would've delivered the shock in c5 seconds and left the audience to process the ramifications. TWD had to drag the ass out of it and totally fcuk it up.

Anywho, I'm willing to bet that hot Megan or whatever Ken's girlfriend was called (who had been buried but NOT REALLY) ends up killing Negan at the end of the series. Y'know, "you killed my boyfriend, Ken, and you thought I was dead, but I'M NOT DEAD MOTHERDUCKER" in a sort of totally-not-guessable way.

As much as I actually like the show, the "I'm holding a gun inches from Neegan's face but I cannot shoot him because he's a bad dude" - is the stupidest thing on all of television (at least while Fear the W.D. is on hiatus).
If you cannot keep a guy named Zombie watching a show featuring zombies, it's time to pull the plug

Van Helsing isn't horrible. I kind of like their take on it
This was nothing but Negan, a complete douche already, just nose rubbing, taunting, and peacocking around looking for 2 hand guns while Daryl was dressed up like Alvin the chipmunk.
I'm very annoyed that Gimple is still breaking each episode into just one group's story. I wish they would weave the stories together a little bit better. It's probably for budget reasons that they don't film and produce episodes this way.
I think I only watch now to hate on the show. And Carl, get a [bleeping] haircut already.

yep, actually, I could quit watching it. My wife still enjoys it for some reason and reminds me every Sunday that it is on. Even she thought the 90 Negan episode was stupid.
