Anyone have advice on a quality watch that can really stand up to vibration/hard knocks?

I do a lot of outdoor work, including chainsawing, and have basically stopped wearing a watch because they get wrecked. (My dad ruined a Rolex in this same fashion back in the late ’70s.)
A G-shock lol

But if you are talking more in the luxury end of things, a lot of mechanical sports watches have shock/magnetic resistance these days. The Omegas are particularly good for that.

G-shock - I really like the look of the “Casio Oak”

I know a guy that owns 2 subs, 2 gmts, yacht master , 3 panerais, 2 APs, Patek , and just bought a Constantine.

but he only ever wears his gshock. He did bring his watch box to our game once, but still wore his gshock

Unfortunately the G-shocks aren’t really my style, but I’ll take a look see in case they have some new models.

Also I sometimes get a skin reaction from rubber/resin/plasticky bands, so metal is much preferable. Cloth maybe, except that’s gonna get filthy and have to be replaced regularly.

I’m not shy with my watches. But when I pull out the chainsaw. I simply remove my watch. It’s just not worth the headache. For my overall “beater” I usually throw on my Tudor GMT

mom about to buy a sub and I’d wear it on a nato strap. Actually I’ve worn all my watches on nato straps

So FWIW I did order one of the G-Shock “Oaks” with the clear case and band. Kind of stylish, actually, for the price; and it has a thinner profile than many of their watches.

However, as feared I got a rash from the resin band. So I hunted around and found a kit to replace these with metal.

It’s heavier than I’d like for an outdoor work watch, and I’m not crazy about the look, but gonna see how it holds up to fall chainsawing/ sawzalling/ woodchopping. At least it will preserve my “good” watch from destruction.

Modded Gshock below.

So, ugh. My obsessive PCF-derived habit of inspecting photos revealed that one of the ends of the band was not fully secured. A half-hour of tinkering shows that the pins provided are not quite long or springy enough to secure the heavier band in place.

So much for third-party mods. Back the drawing board.

I’ve got the blacked out “Casioak” and love it. Wear it to the hospital when I’m working. I’ll post a pic later!

I'm such a slut. My speedy has been out for service for 5 weeks, I haven't worn the nomos in ages and I'm too scared to wear the Yachtmaster as a daily, so so I bought a bb58 lol.

Pretty cheap though really compared to current RHC set prices.

Apologies if this is addressed in this thread somewhere, but what are some trustworthy used watch dealers? I have had the same Tag Heuer that I bought myself when I first got a decent job over 20 years ago. I still love the watch as my daily watch and style love the style. But I would like a similar watch but with gold and would like to know where I can trust.

What I have is a Tag 2000 chronograph. They currently offer the Aquaracer but I prefer the older models and bands in particular.
European Watch Company in Boston is pretty good. Chrono24 does a good job of vetting and providing buyer feedback on dealers that sell on the site.

Can someone please tell me what brand of watch is Reza wearing in the last episode of Hustler Casino cashgame?

Congrats. I keep getting tempted by the Grand Seikos, particularly the SLGH005 white birch.

Those hi beat movements are awesome. Make sure you post plenty of pics.
Thanks, will do. Couldn't be happier.

I looked at the white birch, and the new slga007 lake suwa... the zaratsu finish wasn't as noticeable on those, in fact found it them to be sitting with too much matte/satin,. Plus, the 22mm lug width at the top dwarfed the case, kinda bummed me out. The lake suwa was sweet in certain lighting, but not all. The white burch definitely pops and is quite legible.

The other I was really going up against was the sbgh273 ("fall")... and still might at some point... really a stunner in its own right in the 62GS case (it was posted earlier in this thread).

I also considered the sbgh279 (gray satin) which was stunning, but too fancy in my opinion.

I picked this one up the other day. Such a cool watch! On the black strap that it comes with it’s a super sleek dress watch. But take off that black shiny strap and throw on something more casual and all of a sudden you have a more jeans and a tee shirt type watch.

The dial has a modern feel while still incorporating everything classic about Patek. The two tone black/gray color scheme is easy to read and looks good no matter what you’re wearing. I also love the very subtle gold rings around the sub dials.

And if the dial wasn’t enough to stare at…. The movement on this incredible. I find the fact that several parts of the movement were designed by the Patek Philippe Advanced Research department pretty cool.

Jesus titty fucking Christ

Calling all chippers. If anyone can get their hands on one of these ($250usd from a swatch boutique) I will pay them $350usd for it (please not baby blue pink or yellow lol)

Of course there are no swatch boutiques in Australia. Stupid Australia. I badly need a moonswatch to go with my moonwatch.
