You’re looking for “subs” and now talking about “grinders”… is this still the watch thread?
Yes

I haven’t. I only read Reddit for the jokes thread

Seem kinda high. What’s grey market for black ss sub? I haven’t really been in the Rollie game
Subs continue to appreciate and new ones are in short supply. Beyond black ss…. date/no date? which model?

There's a sub on the watchexchange subreddit for around $10k. I think price will depend on the reference you're looking for. Seems like the watches on there are kinda expensive tho

I’m kicking myself for not grabbing a gold/ss sub a few years ago for around $6k. I have a SS that I am keeping forever now….I won’t wear it because I beat the shit out of my watches. I wear my breitling super ocean- I’ve scratched the bezel( which I didn’t think you could do - see between 11/12). Mind you I love this watch, keeps decent time and I can work on my truck and not care if I scratch it

That's a proper tool watch, scratches and all! My black bay is pretty beat up and I love it.

You’re asking for an odd combo- the gold case/blue dial in particular, making it a jumbo watch makes it even harder- that’s not a popular modern option outside the 6-figure watch world (AP). Here’s the full list of options on Chrono24 given your parameters:

Thanks! Pretty much how my searches have gone. I was hoping I missed something. (:

Yeah, that is definitely a difficult combo to come by. The face color alone isnt one of the more popular right now and then with gold even less so. Is there a reason you are set on that color combo and not more so on a watch you fall in love with?

I just love the ice blue dial color, and wanted gold because 40+ years of working just feels worth it. (:

I saw a parmigiani fleurier with a light/ice blue dial color and I was like WOOOWWWWW!!! Absolutely gorgeous in person. I'm hoping Breitling releases the watch below with their ice blue dial (this is silver) sometime soon so it's a couple of years old by the time I retire...LOL!!

Hey peeps!! Not an immediate need, but I'm saving up for my retirement gift to myself. :) I'm interested in a watch that meets the following parameters:
  • Movement = mechanical (automatic)
  • Case size = 40mm - 47mm
  • Dial color MUST BE = Ice Blue (some light blues might be acceptable)
  • Case Material = gold (not white gold)
  • Country of origin: the chip snob in me prefers Swiss, but I can be convinced of others I suspect.
  • Price: <$15k maybe...LOL. looking to buy used in excellent condition. I suppose I could sell some chips and push $20k for the PERFECT watch.
  • Prefer chronograph, but would consider others.

This is a very difficult/impossible combination. Most brands don’t even work with gold and the ones that do charge at least 10-12k more for the same watch in gold vs steel... if a steel version even exists.

The chronograph complication isn’t a common one either for the high brands and is usually found in “sporty” models that will lean more practical/durable and less colorful/dressy.

That Daytona as I understand it is basically unobtainium or you have to wait 10 years on a list to get one if you can get on the list.

Blue dial is cool but rare and relatively new amongst the Swiss brands. I’m looking for one too and the options I’m seeing are both limited and overpriced.

The Patrimony isn’t a bad retirement blue watch but it’s not a chrono, has a low profile, is slightly smaller than 40mm, and slightly over budget. The blue is lighter in person than in their pics.

Here are some that are close, but no gold option with the ice or light blue dial. Breitling has a silver dial gold option on their Navitimer B01 that is beautiful.

This little known company (below) has a gold option, but I can't even afford the non gold option...LOL!!

Not ice blue, but beautiful

Nowhere near as nice as most of the above but something that should hold up decently to my semi-occasional clumsiness... :D

Got it second-hand (no pun intended) from WUS - it came with Jays & Kays adapters and I put on an Aliexpress knockoff of a 23mm Luminox Carbon bracelet. Specks are dust.

I have a friend that’s pretty baller. Has probably 10-15 luxury watches (Rolexes, Panerais, AP, iwc, vc etc) but he wears a gshock 5 days out of the week.
