The Watch Thread (3 Viewers)

Thankfully, I've got a good relationship with my AD as he lives down the road from me, so I'm just going in at the deep end. He's said that these are realistic, both of which I love:

But I'm really hoping that a few bottles of Blanton's might help us wrangle this:

IMO, buy the watch you love, not the one that's "realistic" waiting-list-wise. But nothing wrong with the Blanton's hack. Good luck!

I've actually been thinking about an OP41, w/ green dial. I don't own a rolex, I REALLY don't like the cyclops/whatever thing they do on dates so I wouldn't get any watch from them with a date function, and 40/41mm is about as small as I'd go. So either a steel OP41 or an Explorer 40, but I kinda dig the green dial.

What's stoping me? No rolex purchase history and buying it at basically anything other than retail($6,400) really doesn't make sense. They move secondary as 11-13k. For 11-13k I'm buying a very different watch, JLC or IWC.
I'm absolutely obsessed with any sort of green dial, so a steel OP41 makes sense as a realistic purchase (hopefully).

It's crazy, but over the past couple of years, I've really started to appreciate the benefits of living in a relatively small capital city when it comes to purchasing luxury/ niche goods. The demand is nowhere near what you guys just experience, making it relatively easier to get what I want if I can find the right people — and strike up the right relationship with them.

Need some help and figured I'd fish for it here. Any recommendations for reasonably affordable chrono winding boxes? I have two 52.5mm Invicta automatics and need a solution that will fit them both. I've been shocked at some of the winding box prices though.

IMO the fears on watchuseek are overblown and buying fancy winders is mostly just buying fancy things to buy fancy things. Nothing wrong with that... this is PCF after all. But I don't know of any functionality benefits, besides a better looking logo.

Haven't noticed any magnetization or adverse effects with my $85 Amazon winder. Runs super quietly. They daisy chain so you can run multiple off of one USB port. (Or there's a dual winder model if you prefer.)

(Mods, let me know if product links aren't allowed.)

I don't wear large watches so worth checking the reviews for compatibility.

I’m on a loooong waitlist for the LV sub, lol. Having owned the green OP 41 and AK at the same time, I think the fact that I only still have the OP should tell you which one of those two I prefer.

Honestly for something I wear on frequent nicer occasions, going out, etc the OP is hard to beat. Subtle but pretty cool if anybody does happen to notice it. The green sub is spectacular, but I’d be nervous wearing it out too often going to events, hopping on BART (/ the tube) or anywhere where I wouldn’t want anybody noticing $15k on my wrist…

would you wear a watch that expensive or more if it didn't say 'rolex' and it was less likely that someone looking to steal it would recognize it?

Invaluable insight, cheers Kyle! We're so behind here in Wales that we don't even have a version of the tube, sooo...

Got a couple of these beauties. Always loved the design from the 70s so bought 2 of these homage watches

Had a beautiful little private wedding ceremony yesterday with close family. I have posted this watch earlier, but it was a gift from my Fiancee (now wife I guess).

Still have a proper wedding next week with extended family and friends, but August 11th had sentimental value and we weren't able to book our venue.

Congrats on married life. That's a beautiful Hamilton! How does the ring feel?

My recommendation is Watchfinder.com. Second-hand at very competitive (and negotiable) prices, and they’re owned by Richemont so they stand behind their products/warranty’s.
Tbh, I'm really in no rush to get my hands on one, and really begrudge paying more for a second-hand item.
