Usually just drink neat bourbon or scotch but the wife wants a cocktail, so we compromise and make cocktails. My whiskey sours  suck but she allows me to practice.

Had to adapt a little. But wow. It’s fantastic

Pre mixed? I’m a newb. What does that mean?

All cocktails are great with top shelf ingredients.
What are some of the decent Irish whiskeys? I was in a store last week and they were doing samples of Teeling. They had a small batch and a single malt. I thought they were both pretty good, but what do I know... I do know I had some Jameson at a friends house and wasn't impressed. I'm sure it was the most basic one they make.

I recently got hooked on Moscow Mules and am big on fresh limes and good vodka but am looking for recommendations on best Ginger Beers. Thinking of doing a taste test of what’s available just on their own

Cock & Bull or Bundaberg are my favorites.

Reed’s is good too, and has varying options of spice.

I’m a fan of Teeling. Their Small Batch is good and was my entry point to Irish Whiskeys on a Dublin trip. As a starting standard of Irish Whiskey, you can’t go wrong with Small Batch.

Redbreast 12 might be the default standard of good Irish Whiskey. Their 15 is also really good (albeit more $$).

Back to Teeling, they have a cool story as the first distiller to open operations in Dublin for like 125 years. They also experiment, pushing Irish Whiskey beyond the traditionally sweet taste. They are all very different and meet different moods. I‘ve been tasting a few and will be hosting an Irish Whiskey tasting at my Feb game: Small Batch (rum cask), Single Grain (cab cask), Stout Cask, and Blackpitts (peated single malt in bourbon casks.

Thanks for the great response! So Jameson... Is it pretty ordinary? Kind of like the Jack Daniels of Irish whiskey?

My Irish collection. It doesn’t even scratch the surface of the great bottles.
