It's tragic yet also laughable the vindictiveness ascribed by some ITT to people involved in this effort. Making dumbass assumptions like sets were bought to be flipped to the community or that they got greedy, secretive or whatever. Repeat: this was all cleared and above board with GPI. The rep approved the process and sets were made.

Also in the next wave, AT LEAST two sets were in line to be made that would be sold via a website at about $2/chip, hardly fleecing the community, and making semi-customs available to anyone. But some of you know-it-all assholes have killed any chances of those efforts continuing by insulting and casting aspersions on those who went to great lengths to find a legit GPI pipeline. So keep running your mouths. You seem to have all the answers.

As has been stated, nobody knows why GPI slammed the door. But likely the ownership change and reviewing of accounts/audit practices dropped the hammer on it.

Who knows what will become of the sets that were made. If owners want to sell them at $10/chip like star chips, that's up to them. Some of us sold beloved sets for a shot at custom Paulsons and ended up missing out. The effort isn't without risk.

You know, every 25 posts or so, someone gets real mad and makes a post like this, and I have yet to see anyone behave like you're describing. People are currently reacting to a craigslist ad asking 100 bucks for 6 chips. So, either someone in the group is flipping some chips or they're trolling. The reaction to either scenario is completely normal and expected. So, I think it's you and the other occasional white knights that need to chill out with calling everyone an asshole.

My inbox and texts just blew up in the last half hour or so, while I've been in a meeting. I had nothing to do with that CL ad whatsoever and I don't have those pictures, nor do I have any of the chips. I have known (or strongly suspected) the buy for some time, and have received pics of the chips, but have not posted them or discussed the buy publicly, other than what appears on this thread. I would assume that my word on that should suffice, Scott, as you should know me well enough to know that. I expect an apology for the accusation.

I do, however, live in Brooklyn, so there is that.

I apologize, I reacted to the location. But you're also acting as if you're incapable of pulling off such a troll job, when Ive been on PMs where you've planned these type of moves aimed at others. If its wasnt you, I sincerely apologize, and hope there are no hard feelings.

I've been reading this thread since its inception. You could say this thread itself is a giant troll. People have a lot of questions and in the absence of information, they will make speculations. Anyone that has any experience with human behavior knows this. Speculating, hypothesizing, conjecture, extrapolating, etc. is NORMAL behavior. It's not malign. If the guys that were trolling with these pictures don't want speculation, they'd come out with the story. (Here's another point where someone like you will say, "You're not owed a story!" I hope you recognize, that's not even close to what I'm saying.) You could say they're still trying to protect something; I'd retort if that were the case, they wouldn't have revealed anything at all.

These guys are getting exactly what they want: stirring the pot, causing mischief. Otherwise, this would have been revealed in a much different manner.

thats a great question. I sent those to people who had ordered the chips, but had not yet received them via re-shipping. I cant say who they were forwarded to from there.

Reciprocated, Bert. I was initially involved with the Star chips buys but withdrew. And I've consistently said I hold no ill will for those who got them, although I think some of the methods used were quite a bit more surreptitious -- my main issue was with the resulting over-moderation of accounts and threads and unfair treatment of some members by admins, which has been documented to a degree when not censored. That is what leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I agree with @bivey about all of the drama frpm both buys. The crazy thing is that I became a pariah from the MA/NH crowd because I honored the promise I made to the first buy not to tell anyone. And with the exception of one person (my closest friend in the world), who Tommy cleared me to tell, I kept that promise. And for some reason my keeping my word enraged certain people--most notably Chicken--but also others in the MA/NH crowd, even though several others in on the boat buy told them all about it. I have known, at least with 98% certainty, for quite some time, that the BTP buy was going to be attempted and/or going on. And yet I did nothing. Not a peep. Why? Certainly not because I was treated well by the likes of Chicken. Solely because I'd like to think that I treated them the way I had hoped they'd treat me.

The fact that the CL post was located in Brooklyn has not been lost on me. I have my suspicions as to who it was that did it, and why, but really, what's the point?

I think you are misreading the Star situation, but I can only speak for myself here. I didnt care at all about you getting chips or keeping your word, I respect both. What confused the hell out of me, was that possibly the most vocal flipper critic on PCF all of a sudden had thousands of extra Boat chips that he was willing to auction off at market rates. That was the head scratcher for me.
