Turo for car rental? (2 Viewers)

How do I find out how pickup/dropoff work? I’m going through checkout, but it never says anything specific. Do I book, then communicate with the host? I can’t seem to ask the host a question before booking, unless I’m missing something.

My host sent me a info message thru the app once I booked the car. It had instructions requesting you give the host your flight info (like rental companies do) to ensure the car was there at the right time (also you book down the the hour of pickup/drop off). When landing you message the host and they give you the final details on vehicle exact location/pickup. At least that was my experience.

Just not worth it. I've attempted booking via Turo several times and the hassle of pickups/meeting owner plus extra costs, fees and rules just don't add up.

I often travel to locations with larger airports where Hertz has Ultimate Choice. You just walk past all the rental lines into the garage and select any car in the category (or below) they've listed you in on the monitor - Gold, 5 Star, President's Circle, etc. Show your license to the gate agent on the way out of the garage and you're off. Drop offs are just drop and walk away. Grace periods up to 1 hour on returns.

I've paid $35 to $45 per day for my last 20+ rentals via Hertz, inclusive of everything except gas/electricity. Options included Volvos, Mustangs, VWs, Buicks, Chevys, Polestars, Kias, Fords, GMC's, F150's, etc. Really tough to beat.

Expert tip: Shop Hertz rates via AAA, AARP, Expedia, Marriott, etc. - and include your Hertz number on the reservation.

Assuming you rent cars often. How would this compare/work for those renting a car 1x per year for a vacation vs the cost savings from a premium hertz plan?

Joining Hertz Gold is free. Just sign up for free membership. From there, you receive all the Hertz Gold benefits - skip the line, Ultimate Choice, better pricing, etc.

Each rental stands on it's own. So, for example, if Expedia has the best pricing for the one rental you need annually, just book it via Expedia but include (or add later) your Hertz Gold number.

The only extras you get for renting a lot are 1) bumping up to higher "membership" levels which equate to more car selections with Ultimate Choice, and 2) earning enough Hertz points to get free days of rentals (you need to spend a lot of $ to get even one free day, so not really much of a consideration/perk IMHO).

Every time I walk by the long rental lines for the other companies (sometimes people wait for hours in those lines), I just catch my breath and walk out to a clean and sometimes brand new Hertz rental.

Just so you don't think I'm a Hertz shill...downside to Hertz rentals...
1) You will NEVER get an agent on the phone. You have to go a rental location to speak with a human.
2) The app can do somethings - like extend or shorten rentals, but sometimes you just want a human, like when you realize they marked the fuel as full, but there was only half a tank, etc.
3) Hertz prices fluctuate nearly hourly, so finding a better rate takes some effort. Tip: Just keep booking and cancelling until you are happy - be sure free cancellation is attached to each book if you plan to do this!
