I was just through Colorado Springs a few weeks ago. Didn't make it up to Pike's Peak, but Manitou Springs is a fun little town if you are through there. Cave of the Winds was fun. We had an amazing thunderstorm roll through while we were up there. Lightening all around us!

I'm confused? Where are all the other cars? I drove that route this weekend and it was bumper to bumper for a good portion of the drive to and from Silverthorne. You mean to tell me that we could actually make it there in reasonable time if we didn't travel on the weekend with the rest Denver Metro's population? Wild.

Speaking of Denver's Metro population...I lived in Denver in 2002-2003. I remember how terrible/aggressive the drivers were. I was just through (drove Cheyenne down to Fountain and then back up)...and HOLY SHIT! The drivers are even worse than I remembered. It's like Cannonball Run everywhere!

Plans are to head out to Zion, Bryce & Moab in a couple of years with the family, it'll probably be our last big trip together before the boys start college. We were just out at Yosemite & Sequoia a few weeks ago, I have to download all my pics and post a few, it was amazing.

Bought cottage in St Helen Michigan this summer. Great fishing, bonfires, kayaking,

built a picnic table. Great family getaway 2.25 hour drive. Best entertainment money I’ve ever spent.

We will have a poker weekend up here in September, in planning stages now.

Having some experience going through over the years, I would say it depends (on the trooper that pulls you over)

I've cut through Ontario tons of times on my way to upstate New York... I *love* the 100 speed limit on the 401... You can make really good time!

Years ago Nevada had no speed limit during the day (I think it was 75 at night).
Our rights have been trampled !!

It's totally incredible that in the extemely individualistic Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, where even mentally deranged people can freely buy firearms, there are no de-restricted sections of motorways, without any speed limit

I was out there for work 2 yrs back and took a trip out to Pikes Peak one afternoon. Luckily it was open when we got there so I enjoyed taking the hire car up to the top for a drive

However the view from the top was...err...disappointing

There is 80 mph all over the Western States, outside of CA and WA. I saw 85 mph in Montana. Across the Continental Divide in Montana, passenger vehicles have 65 mph, while trucks have 25 mph. I found that quite interesting.

Yeah, trucks tend to get out of control going down a steep grade. This is on I-70 east heading for Denver
