There have been a few black inlay vintage style sets coming through the pipe recently. Seeing these sets has helped me realize the black inlay, white ring, minimal color artwork is very appealing to me. It is the primary reason why I am so fond of The Capital Room chips.
I have never really considered having a custom set made, primarily because they don't hold their value. I am not one for really keeping sets for more than a couple years. I use them several times then they work their way out of the rotation... and I sell them for around what I paid. Basically renting them for a couple years.
I thought it might be possible to create a custom set that could maintain its value if it had enough appeal to the connoisseurs in this community. That is my motivation for this set.

You will notice that there were several flavors of chips (specifically $5) created in 1948/49. There was also a new set made in 1967 that introduced the beautiful 50c chip as well as the $100 and $500.
My first mockup was essentially a replica of the 1967 set. Taking some liberties on the $1 because the $1 appears to never have had an inlay similar to the rest.
SET 1 (aka 1967)
The first thing you will likely notice is that all of the spotted chips have 3V12. This is consistent with the 1967 set. Unfortunately, the modern 3V12 is not quite the same as the original... or there used to be a 3V14 or something.
This lead me to mix and match various version of the chips to try to get a bit of an edge spot progression. I took some liberties on the $500 as well. Additionally, I wanted to toss in the roulette inlay on the back of the chip. That artwork is amazing as well.
SET 2 (aka mix and match)
The set above is 50c, $1, $5, $25, $100, $500.
Regarding the use of the artwork. I have not discussed with @David Spragg the changes necessary in order to not infringe on copyright. I am hopeful the word "Flamingo" can be used. If not, I think this idea dies. I can imagine adding "Est. 1946" or "Commemorative" or "1946-1970" or something to differentiate it from the originals.
I am open to feedback on the design. I am curious if others would be interested in a set of these? This would be structured as a group buy. As stated in other threads, there isn't a qty price break through CPC. So I can only assume that the prices will be as defined on the CPC site.
