What are your buy in rules for a cash game? (7 Viewers)

One thing I’m considering is actually to increase the initial buy in and then cap the size of rebuys.

I will never cap the number of rebuys since I view that as an individual decision. How much someone is in the game for isn’t my place to judge. Capped buy ins are tournaments.

Capping rebuys can be for reasons beyond controlling finances. It can because the host does not want to be responsible for more money

I stopped match the stack a few months ago when my $50k bank was running perilously thin on a 2/5 game after two people rebought for $6k and most others added on at least 2k more to try and catch the player on a super heater.
At this point, you need security.

PCFers will criticise me on this, but I do electronic transfers on anything over the thousand. I think cash is great if we're playing 50c/50c or $1/$1 which is the bulk of most games here. Anything bigger, definitely a no go for me.

What are your initial buy in rules for a cash game, in terms of BBs?

For our small stakes cash games we standardize at 80BB stacks.

Pros is we didn't drive off players as the competition got stronger, but cons we get a lot of early all in hands. It's 80BB or up to half the big stack for late arrivals/rebuys/top ups.

For my bigger stakes games it's up to 100BB. And then half the big stack for late arrivals/rebuys/top ups.

For my circus night we play deeper - standardize 160 BB for initial buy in. Half the big stack after that.

What do you do? What do you like/not like about it? I've been debating going a little deeper on starting stack amounts but worry about some players getting scared off.
We treat it like a casino. You don’t have to be felted to add on chips. Anytime you want to add chips, you can up to the big blind

Since you're asking:

The thing I don't like about half stack is that if some Finn sucks out on the first hand you aren't in a position to felt him back on the second hand.

Why do you deserve the chance to felt him in the second hand? You lost.

I keep it simple. We play low stakes 0.25/0.25 NLHE. Start with 100 bb (barrel of 0.25 and barrel of $1). After being felted will let you rebuy at up to $25 as many times as you want. And honestly we are so casual we dont get more thatn 2-3 rebuys per night. Also do all of the money over Venmo, keeps payout simple.

Gonna try introducing this for some nights. Normal games are 5c/10c with a $20 cap. I think if I kept it at 200bb people would be less comfortable with the larger starting stacks, even if it's the same ratio.

I've floated the idea of raising and/or lowering stakes but my group is comfortable with this. At most they lose $25 which is just going out for a couple of craft beers. Going 0.25/0.50 would require a $50 buy in which my guys just weren't as comfortable doing. But at the same time you can get some decent pots ($5-10) and get some action. My group wasnt keen on going less than 0.25 because its much harder to get a good pot going.

My game is 20c/20c and I have a cap of $100 for initial buys-ins with matching up to half the big stack once the game is going. However, my group is mostly younger guys (average age is well under 30) and the average buy-in is $20-30.

My house rules are buy-ins and rebuys must be done using Gematria.

Buy-in = 71
Initial buy-in = 145

Rebuy = 71
More chips needed = 143

Fifty percent of top stack = 273
To be honest, got a little spooked when buy-in and rebuy came back with the same number  :ROFLMAO:
