Obviously if I spending the cash I am going to get the chips I absolutely want lol. But have you guys ever ran into the situation where some people like one set of samples and some like others?
I always want a good reaction to the chips when they come out for a game but hell, we cant agree on the best decks of cards have the time and switch every orbit.

I don't put much value into what my players like tbh. They don't have a clue on what is actually nice. They have never bought shuffle stacks of 10 different molds or samples from various makers. Could probably blindfold them and they couldn't tell you what chip was what. They generally dislike my Desjgn cards because their too slippery. They would rather play with a 5 year old worn out deck of paper. My point is i put on a very well run tournament (for over 20yrs) every month and I pay for and supply everything. Though I want them to be happy, I use what I want to use period. They have really come around to appreciating the chips NOW however at first they could have cared less and were more than happy using dice chips. Stop asking them and do what you like if you are the one paying for all of the supplies. I might feel differently if others were pitching in.

That was definitely my thoughts as well. If I like em and I put the work in Ill buy what I want. Some players notice but some just want to drink and talk smack. (I do to but I wanna do it with nice chips)

Its crazy too, I bought a set of Copags to try out and my used Casino decks with chopped corners are more popular lol. Ill be trying out some Broken Arrows next game.

Your purchase, your choice.
On cards, you are the host and decide (with player feedback). There shouldn't be any repeated changing of decks during a night. That's annoying. Maybe apply TDA rule or similar of players can't request a deck change.

You shouldn't be taking advice from anyone on these decisions unless they have a higher pcf post count than you.

The very fact you are in this forum now will make you infinitely more qualified to pick what suits your game best.

Sounds like you want to defer some host decisions that you really shouldn't.

Welcome to PCF, you will know what you want soon enough. Players can deal or walk.

They don’t know diddly, have no say and don’t get asked.

I mean, whatever they do know about chips, cards, dealer buttons (besides the small white one), good felt, nice chairs, side carts, the use of a cut card at all times, bomb pots and hot dogs rollers they’ve learned at my game.
They’re a pretty good group though :)

Say you’re planning on buying a new car, do you take your friends with to test drive because you will pick them up with it one day? No! You’re the driver, whatever makes you happy will be the best choice, they’re just lucky to be a passenger.

I would buy a starting stack of each players preferred chips and just combine them all as the game plays on. Same with cards. Just mix them together to create one deck.

If you don't appease to your players they won't come back.
This only works if the Broadway cards are poker sized and others are bridge sized. Big value = big cards

You know what to do...

Most poker players are troglodytes and couldn't care less, they lack the refined pallette of a chip aficionado. Buy what you like and they'll come around. If not, they'll stop coming around.

I got opinions on samples when I first joined here - I had leaded THCs, china clay milanos, and a couple different kinds of ceramics. The milanos were most popular. I ignored that opinion.

But when it comes to cards, I definitely take the group into account. Since we pass the deal, everybody has to shuffle and deal. So now I only buy cards that are the least troublesome to the masses - I set my personal tastes aside.

Tbh I do agree with this on the cards. I ended up giving up my NTP setups because they didn't go over well with the group. (@merkong 's gain :) ) I also relented on jumbo index even though I very much prefer standard. So it's bridge jumbo Copag's in my house from now on.

Still, I would draw the line at paper cards, no way that's going to play. And I would also draw the line at changing decks more than every couple hours. Every orbit is insane appeasement.

Cards are another animal but I agree completely with @JustinInMN

Because they’re less expensive, if players have a noisy preference let them know they can be friends of the game and purchase a setup for the house.

The 4 decks of NTP’s I got from Justin compliment the 7 or 8 sets of Copags, the 2 setups of Kem, and the setup of Faded Spades that reside in the cabinet. All the latter purchased and brought in by my crew.

Chips? Yeah, I got that covered guys. lol

Did I just switch universes? I’ve been trying every deck of plastics I could for years, and I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of NTPs. Now two guys mention them in 10 minutes?
Well @merkong and I live only about 15 minutes apart :), so he got first crack, hence why we are both talking about them :).

But I did get these from this group buy. Players just didn't like the feel compared to Copags for whatever reason.
