My kid loves the new Zelda game, so I introduced him to the GOAT:

Just a warning on the FFVIII remaster (and I am not knocking it I am just stating fact). The game is no different than the original. The backgrounds were redone, and it works on modern systems, but that's it. It is great for PC players because that game was so broken back then that it took SEVERAL unofficial patches to get it to work. Just don't expect anything huge from it.

Messing around in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. Feels like the devs mostly got a huge influx of cash initially and then started doing the bare minimum.

It's a fun battle simulator at least, but still needs a bunch of polish after being out of EA for years now. Still find it fun to slog through sieges and field battles, and there's a number of mods out there I still need to try, including a Realm of Thrones (game of thrones style) one

This looks a little bit like Mythic Quest. Now there is a game I would like to try. Especially the last version before Ian and Poppy left.

I don't remember it being that broken, but this was way back in the day with a PS1 so who remembers ha.

Not familiar with that game. Mount & Blade Bannerlord has multiple themed factions that are competing to control the continent in a quest mode where you either try to unite the Empire factions under one banner or oppose the empire and destroy it.

There are three Empire factions (north, south and west, modeled after Rome/Byzantine) and then there's Sturgians (think Nords/Vikings), Vlandians (French/German/Gothic knight style), Khuzait (Mongols), Aseri (Desert factions/Egyptian?), and Battanians (Gaul)

You start out independent with your own clan and work towards leveling your character up and their skills in different areas (you can't max everything so you have to select). You can play as a merchant or smith, trading or producing your way to wealth, you can lead bands of soldiers and eventually armies, hire companians with their own skills to complement your own, etc.

You can become a mercenary for the existing factions, eventually become a vassal in support of one of them or try to forge your own kingdom even. I usually play sandbox mode since the quest is kinda meh

It is a comedy on AppleTV+. If you are a gamer it is fun to watch.

On PS1 it ran great. On PC it was big time broken. Well, broken might not be the right wording. It was made for one specific PC hardware setup, and that was a specific setup that NO ONE HAD!

I'm also a long time fan of Galaga. I've purchased it for every console I've owned in the last 20+ years. Used to go to the local small strip mall to play it. One store had Super Mario bros, another had Galaga and a soda machine next to it haha. It was one of the games where I felt I got my money's worth for 25 cents.

None of the Galaga sequels really did it for me either.

Gran Turismo 7 when I get a chunk of free time. Otherwise, I just finished Minit on PlayStation, which was a quick but enjoyable platinum. Interesting concept for Minit.

I already had it at launch and finished it. No Witcher 3, but was decent enough

Bought it at launch too, which I should know better than to do. Also why I haven’t bought Baldur’s Gate 3 yet, although I had faith that Larian would come through with a top notch game.

Am really more into the idea of playing video games these days than actually playing haha

Been playing Starfield for about 6 hours, and I'm not as excited as I had hoped. It's a real slow starter, but from what I've read, it takes a while to really take off.
As a huge fan of Skyrim, Starfield offers the exploration and freedom part, along with the " I just need to see what's over that hill" feeling, but I haven't yet encountered any "WOW, look at that" moments like I often did in Skyrim.
We'll see.

Bethesda games always have that "what's over the next hill" feel, but it always dies off as I realize they never make me invested in the game world or characters

The Quarry???? Tons of fun, wow. Havent bought a full priced game for a decade but for 25-50% off I love it. If you like horror movies, this games a great choice.

(Online) poker is basically a video game. Used to play a lot of jrpgs including ffvii, ffvi, chrono trigger, secrets of mana, etc.

Been replaying all the Uncharted games again because they're amazing. Played 1-3 on the PS3 over the last few months and playing the 4th on PC now and it's fantastic. Originally played it on the PS4 when it came out. The graphics on PC really are great. I forgot just how good this series is, the voice acting is some of the best.

i got a starfield code for free with my graphics card. 4 hours in, i think i have realized bethesda RPGs are no longer for me in my mid-40s. it feels like a second job.

i have played through remnant 2 three times now, and y'all are missing out on an absolute gem if you haven't tried it.

i also just pre-ordered lies of p, and am going to take friday afternoon off to start playing it. loved the demo and the reviews are in and it seems to be exactly what i thought it was going to be (soulslikes are my jam).

This looks interesting, I'll have to add it too the list. Do I need to play the first one?

the first one was also fun and i would still recommend it, but no, definitely not. the story is a distant second to gameplay.
