What video games are you playing? (21 Viewers)

This is from CNET:
"Dark Souls is extremely hard from the get-go, even through its "tutorial" stage, because it doesn't hold your hand and it makes you loop, sometimes maddeningly, through areas you've already completed before. You also can't truly pause."

Do you agree?
I am in my 40s, and always thought the souls games were too hard (I tried one like 10 years ago, and put it down after an hour of repeated deaths and the opaque objectives as others have mentioned) - that said, once it clicked, it really is a fantastic game - I beat the PS5 remake and the highs of beating bosses you've had trouble with are real. We'll have to see where Elden Ring ends up on the difficulty curve.

So I finally picked up No Man's Sky on sale to give it a try. Supposedly, it's supposed to be a better game now after all the updates.

A few hours in - and it is large and sweeping but also at the same time feels isolating and empty. Still not sure how I feel about it yet.

If you guys enjoy punishment like Dark Souls, you might appreciate Darkest Dungeon. The atmosphere and narrator are fantastic.

My only tip is don't get attached to your heroes, they are expendable and renewable resources. Your town and its upgrades are the real goal

The RNG in that one can sometimes be super frustrating. I put like 5-10 hours in on it and then had to set it aside.

I managed to finish it, but it can be frustrating. You have to know which hero types are best for different areas, some have enemies immune to poison, or bleeding, do you need the right party combos

I haven't tried the sequel yet

So pumped for Darkest Dungeon 2. Instant Day 1 purchase.

Who's your favourite class @Anthony Martino ? For me, no contest:

Exactly how I felt about it - big and empty. I didn't last long.

Luckily it was on Game Pass so I didn't pay for it (directly).

It's really a weird feeling. Like why does a game like Minecraft feel big and full where as No Man's Sky feels big and empty? If you played Valheim it felt 'in the middle' in this sense. It's almost like by adding ships flying overhead, space stations with weird ass semi generic NPCs with a few variables changed, the game actually feels MORE hollow.

I updated my Backloggery several months back and noticed that I've only beaten about 25% of my games, so I set a personal goal to focus more on gaming this year and less on collecting. Last week, I beat The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening on the Switch, which was a fun little game; I own the original on the Game Boy but never completed it. My next project is possibly going to be The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks on the DS, which I picked up a few years ago but never finished. After that, I am leaning toward either playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC or finishing the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition marathon that I started last year (when I left off at ME3).

I'd say don't bother with Spirit Tracks personally.

I can't even come close to carving out time to finish games consistently. I bought RDR2 and Persona 5 over a year ago and I've barely touched either of them.

Pokémon tomorrow…kind of looking forward to it
i want to love the new games, i really do but the look like indie games and they have a budget of a gazillion paulsons. I am not asking for a lot just 360 graphics

Not as old school but i just got dont playing nfl blitz on an emulator on my series s. runs so good!
Played a ton of Slugfest on the GameCube with my son! That was a fun game!

Do they still make batteries for something that old? I had a similar one as a kid that ran on a 9V! I haven't seen one of those batteries in YEARS
Seriously? You haven't seen a 9V? They're not used as often anymore, but they're not uncommon in musical instruments and live sound equipment.

Everything I remember from back in the olden days that ran on a 9V now runs on a built in nonreplacable rechargable battery

And smoke detectors (even those that are hard wired).

Change your back up batteries!
