My sons have got me in playing Schedule 1. It’s an indie game, drug-dealing kingpin-building style. Developed by one guy, it’s getting rave reviews and a huge following in the short time since its release.

I saw a friend playing that and am looking to pick it up. Just heard the devs who made Drug Dealer Simulator are trying to sue the guy for copyright infringement, but it looks to be a pretty flimsy case to me. Most of what they seem to be citing as instances are pretty generic things not like, unique mechanics or actual art assets or anything.

It looks like the Drug Dealer Simulator publishers are just investigating at this point. Meanwhile, they are getting massively review-bombed in Steam by fans of Schedule 1.
Apparently there are a few small similarities, but c’mon, you can’t sue on the cause that it’s the same genre of game.

ahh, I'd heard they'd filed something. And I totally agree, could you imagine if From sued every successful soulslike? Ridiculous. I'm not generally in favor of review bombing for stuff like that but it's hard not to feel like they asked for this one.

For anyone with PS5 Plus Extra or XBox Ultimate, Blue Prince will be free on those services on Thursday. I've played the demo and it's incredible. It's a first person, puzzle, Roguelite, mystery game about exploring an ever changing house. Each "run" is a day, but you unravel more of the mystery about the house each day that acts as meta progress.

Khazan: The First Berserker is really good. Very difficult combat but definitely gives the same thrill as when you defeat a FromSoft boss fight.

I think it’s great that’s these small, independent game studios are putting out amazing games.

continuing my metroidvania phase, i finished the last faith (way more awesome than it gets credit for) and just fire up death's gambit: afterlife. again on the switch, so also continuing to completely waste my PC.

Don't forget that Epic Games store usually has 1 or more free games up for grabs each day. Sadly I missed picking up The Outer Limits (by the guys who made Fallout New Vegas) awhile back, had really wanted to try it out.

But sometimes there's even big name games that make their way onto it, got one of the newer Civilization games that way.

Still don't use Epic anywhere near as much as Steam, but it's nice to have some freebies just in case (now I'll NEVER get caught up on my backlog)

Just as a follow up on Blue Prince. I'm over 12 hours in and this game goes hard. Every time I solve a larger puzzle, it only creates more questions and puzzles. The game is flat out amazing! But if you aren't into rougelites and meta puzzle games like The Witness, then this isn't for you.

i'll definitely check this one out, shame it's not on switch though - looks like a great game for boring hotel nights on a work trip.

I guess for total gameplay time, it depends on what type of puzzle gamer you are. For me, these games usually take me FAR longer than the game reviewers.

From what I can tell, defining "finish" for this is tough. You can complete the objective you are given at the onset in probably 10hrs or less depending on how perceptive you are and how much you focus your room drafting to that end. But that's not really finishing the game.

What makes it interesting is that every day, you draft the rooms with a different objective in mind. And since it's a roguelite, you may not be able to pull it off, but you can audible into a different objective. And as you complete more meta progress, each day becomes a bit easier to draft around what you want to focus on.

I am finally playing through Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I am a life-long Zelda fan, but I could not get into the open world aspect... I purchased the game at launch and re-start it about once a year, but I always lose steam around Kakariko Village. I decided to change my frame of mind and accept that I might play a 2-4 hour session and not progress the main story at all. Now, I am taking enjoyment in all of the side quests.
