I love this place. Im with the "you get out of it what you put into it" crowd. I think a big part of the reason it feels different is there are so many new faces. If you've been gone a year then you're not going to know some of the names that have become a valuable part of this community.

There has been some pretty big life events over the last year affecting our members and vendors. In every instance this group has pulled together and done some amazing things to support those affected. I couldn't be any prouder to be a member of PCF.

For those of you who don't know @stocky, hes one of the good ones. I hope you get to know him. Very glad hes back.

The AS/ES GB and how it was communicated (or lack thereof) to the community, the misleading or omitted information, whether intentional or not, how members were chosen, and a boatload of other issues is what has fractured the community. Even after the GB was exposed, some of it's participants continued for weeks to belittle those forum members that dared asked questions. Their denial and dismissal to this post wont make it untrue.

You have repeatedly made the statement that GB participants, before the GB was revealed, sold “grail” and other desirable sets at high prices, dumping them on unsuspecting buyers and that the buyers of these sets lost money once the GB was revealed. You have never supported this assertion with any actual facts or examples.

And folks are selling PCAs and PNYs and Le Noirs and Palais des Congres and Empress Joliet’s and Horseshoes and Tonkawas and GVs and Mapes and Nevada Clubs and TRKs and TRKs and TRKs and Samurai Clubs and Bourbon Streets and Vineyards and hosts and hosts of other chips (the list goes on and on) that the market has set a price for. What is your point? Many of the chips I sold I purchased in the secondary market at market prices. Some I sold simply because I decided to pare down my set.

Not discounting boat chip drama, but I wonder if the board being less robust is a sign of it being a victim of its own success. Specifically how many of us know each other now from meat ups. I have an ever evolving text chat with three guys on here and separate ongoing chats with another four or so. I find that a lot of the people I know from here correspond regularly with me away from the board. I assume others who are meat up regulars experience the same so that may be killing some of the casual chit chat traffic from the site.

Pretty much this for me too. I stay in touch with the folks in my circle via email and PM. Lots of projects out there and are being discussed in our circles. I've got a few friends here and there from meets and never forget those wonderful elite chippers that have built an abundance of chip karma with me. I do miss the silly threads from the missing ones...

Content drives activity and everyone is on their own level of chipping knowledge and wants/needs. Hitting the new post button reveals a bunch of classifieds (99% of which I have no interest in), noob questions that others can answer, and the occasional post of interest. I check out the meets my pals are having that I can't attend since my location and schedule prohibit it most of the time.

But honestly I have little time or energy for this. My post was in response to @Poker Zombie praising the merits of the GB, attributing the strife it caused to jealousy. There was a lot more to it than that.

I’ll say it again, @BGinGA, if you want to engage in a public debate on this topic I would be willing to, but I think the time for this has passed.

Confitmed thread in question is no longer available.
Even if what you believe is either incorrect or factually unprovable because threads have been removed and many sales may have been done privately, if I were in the GB the simplest reply would have been "hey man, sorry you and the community feel that way".
Instead we got 36 pages of bullshit and name calling; which continues to this day.
I don't hold the view that the GB was a success. It's had the opposite affect on the community as chips were placed at a higher value than most of the members of this forum. (My opinion)

My brief input about the "Boat Chips" and Community. I am not going to say or debate if it was bad or good either way. All I know is that constantly bringing up the subject sucks. People talk about being a member of the community, they talk about why is it not the same or they talk about how do we heal? Quit picking the F'n Scab!

I say, if you are truly "for" the community then let the community heal. Like calling out members. If you want to know who is bad do it via PM. Or if you want to debate boat chips do it via pm. No one wins when it keeps coming up and crapping up threads!!! Period!

These are my personal views and not the forums. I am not looking to debate someone on the internet. If you want to debate then debate me face to face. Anyone can debate on the internet where we are all 10 feet tall and full of piss and vinegar!

The thing is, most of the folks who were in the GB agree with you, @Meddler2. Was it handled the best way? No, not even remotely. Was it “fair”? No. Are those who were in the GB sympathetic to the viewpoint of those who were not? Yes (at least most are). Was the GB a success? Not in the sense that it has fractured the community. It was a self-inflicted wound, and will take a long time to heal.

But for all the faults and failures of the GB and those who participated—and there were many—I submit the following: @superchromix is making wholly unsubstantiated inflammatory claims, for which he has provided no support ever. I can not rationalize his motives, except his desire to rekindle, fracture and sow anger and confusion. What makes me shake my head even more is that he wasn’t even a member of PCF when the GB occurred. Anyone who knows me knows I found great fault with how certain GB members behaved and the decisions they made. Yes, it caused a schism in the community. Yes, it was unfair. Yes, it showed even me the true colors of certain members. But superchromix has no interest in that. He’s a bomb-thrower. There is plenty to crticize about the GB and its participants, but naked insinuations to attack forum members I cannot abide.

You conveniently elide your wholly unsupported statement that prior to the GB becoming public, GB members were dropping other chipsets on other members at inflated prices and that those that bought from GB members lost a fortune. That is simply NOT the case. And I’m still waiting for some proof—any—that the GB had an impact on the chip market. Prices and sales before, during and after the GB prove you wrong.

There is plenty to criticize about the GB. This, however, is a figment from a dark corner of your imagination.
