Dear Valued T*B member...

In order to view our threads please Uninstall all modern updates to your computer. Re download Windows 3 and continue... if you still have issues loading our forum imidiatley call AOL and your phone/internet provider and resport back to dial up internet... if you still have issues please consider hooking up the ole Commodore 64. Should have zero issues running our software from there.

We appreciate your continued support as we integrate to all of this new technology. It is an ever changing world and honestly for most of us we need assistance even going to the bathroom. With recent advancements in disposable underwear we find that our average screen time has increased 300%, we are confident that in the next 8 - 10 years our platform should function on windows 7.

A few of our members mentioned something about an App... we want to let you know that in no way does T*B plan to go into the Resturant business, we prefer to mostly concentrate on poker chips and weird bot threads hinting a questionable disturbing pornographic material. You may notice that often these threads have 40 to 50% more views than the chip threads , so we are striving to keep these fresh and keep our members entertained.

Sincerely, The Presid.... Vice Presid... Treasu.... umm.... who ever we have left that want their job or is not corrupt. Anyone???

Sincerely,
the after hours janitorial staff of the South Point Hotel in Beautiful Las Vegas

(I did sensor my own post, for the record this could be in reference to anything. So losen your belt and have a good laugh... no need to get butt hurt on a Friday morning)

My Grandpa used to call that SOS: $hit on a shingle. Apparently, it was a frequent breakfast in the Navy during WW2.
That was a weekly lunch special at a room where I used to play a limit O8 game. And since a game like that is heavily populated by old guys, that SOS term came up every time they served it.

Mr Kaplan's email to me this morning -
[..]
The image as submitted is the property of the submitter. The image as it appears on the ChipGuide is the property of the ChipGuide. This is all that I know that was told to me by the CCA attorney. Legally, you would have to ask an attorney for more information, that is all that I know.
This is nonsense, and any decent IP attorney would say so.

I'm reminded of the quote: "Academic politics is the most vicious and bitter form of politics, because the stakes are so low."

My plea to any of you should you find yourself in a position of responsibility for a club, hobby, civic organization, social group, or [heaven forbid] an online forum: Should you one day decide to resign your position, quite likely as the result of an intense and deeply-felt political struggle involving those whom you had once counted among your closest of friends, save yourself a world of embarrassment and do so with a simple "I'm resigning" note, treating it with all the importance and gravity of announcing where you plan to go to lunch that day.

If I had more time and energy to do so, I'd immediately start a rival chip collecting club and bury the CCA/CCGTCC ten feet underground where it belongs. It's as old and moldy as a Jeopardy question about pulitzer prizes in the 1960s.

In a collectors' hobby such as ours, there is considerable value in the knowledge of the old people who are still alive and active. Be careful what you wish for.

As usual, I'm late to the party and thanks E for the tag. I think I have 400+ images to the Chip Guide and see the CG as a valuable resource for most collectors, which probably a few items that are pretty rare, though not sure if they are one of's but maybe 2 or 3 of's :)

Also, appreciate all the information around image copyrights etc and I for one believe I still own the images I submitted to the Chip Guide as I own the item and scanned the image. That being said, I am not concerned if the Chip Guide uses it to print a book and sell them for proceeds as long as the proceeds are used to go back to the MOGH, as they are a non-for-profit and the goal of preserving gaming history is something I believe in. I also believe that i can take that same image and print my own book, and it looks like from all the posts that is still true. If not, well i guess we will have to see but I can always just rescan the image.

My take on Charles, who I don't have any issues with and he has always been cordial to me, is that he can at times be overzealous and a bit over the top. I think his intention or belief is that he is doing what's right for the Chip Guide/MOGH. I think part of this relates to eBay auctions that happened a long time ago where there was someone on eBay was ripping people off and he/she was using Chip Guide images representing them as their own chips. That doesn't excuse his behavior, especially to the Dude that submitted his own image to the chip guide and then used it for his own eBay auction of that chip. It doesn't make any sense to think that the Dude can't use his own image for his eBay auction.

As far as all the turmoil around the club members, officers, etc. There is just a lot of history and bad blood between some folks. I just ignore most of as its just a big waste of time.

To close, its a friggin' hobby about chips/gambling/poker/etc, so don't take it too seriously. Life is too short.

Now if you want a NFT of my Doyle Chip with a Pink Hat...

I’ve been in the chipping hobby for over a decade.

Never once visiting that bulletin board (it’s not a website, c’mon) and have no idea who these people are.

Anyone under the age of 72 probably doesn’t understand how to post over there anyway. What a fucking horrendously bad interface, my god.

I've used the TCB and CG as a resource.. heck, I was able to dig (and I mean DIG) through years of the TCB to find some old info that led me to people who owned some rare chips I was looking for (RVCL).
Try to give back with photos/info when I can. I have given Charles a few photos of chips not in the guide, or better photos of chips that already were.
If I post a pic from the CG on PCF (I don't use their images for sales/auctions), I now try to notate the source per Charles' recent request to do so via Tommy.
Maybe they want the citation as much for the exposure of outsiders to the club as they do for image "protection"... maybe not, I don't know.
Personally, I'm not overly concerned about the copyright aspect (I know what I own).
Only concerned IF people are being unnecessarily hassled about using CG images.
I really have no idea about the inner politics of the club and have no interest in seeing the club dissolve.
I do advocate for the TCB website (and thestrikepoint) to move into the 21st century.. even if 21 years late.
