Why is baseball the best sport on the planet? Discuss. (4 Viewers)

Hi, my name is Aaron Boone. I manage the New York Yankees baseball club.

Tonight, I brought in a pitcher who hasn’t pitched in the entire postseason and who’s last time on a mound was 37 days ago to face the Dodgers at home in the bottom of the 10th and protect a one run lead

Then, just for kicks because I like walking around with a loaded howitzer at my head with a twitchy trigger finger, I walked one of the worst hitters in the postseason in the last 20 years to get to Freddie Fucking Freeman, who parked a Cortes waist high hanging cockshot into the fucking Chavez Ravine.

This is all part of my super secret plan to get fired when we lose the World Series 4-1 and I can get back to watching clips of the last good decision I had which was in 2003 when I swung at a Tim Wakefield knuckleball that failed to knuckle.

Be right back! I’m going to run a cheese grater of my genitals just to feel something, and then dip my entire head into undiluted hydrochloric acid since it’s the least useful part of my body.

Have a great day.

-A A Ron.

It should have never gone to the 10th. Soto took a terrible line to the ball on Hernández's hit, allowing a triple instead of a double. And Ohtani took an extra base on a poor throw/catch. Both scored on sacrifice flies that would not have brought either run in if the player were sitting on second.

The scoop on Ohtani’s double and nobody backing him up is a bad mental lapse, but a managerial decision that quite possibly dooms the Yankees for the entire series is inexcusable. Boone is gonna get fired or a lot of people will stop watching the Yankees.

I’m not for or against getting around Mookie and taking Freddie.

For anyone watching the dodgers, Mookie is on a crescendo right now after a big lull. Hes not chasing shit and even his outs tend to be well hit - and earlier this game he just hit his hardest ball so far this postseason. Meanwhile I got Freddie who has had to skip every other game last 4 games due to the ankle, and he’s been playing on it all game.

I’m fine going for the win against/losing to either of those hitters, pick your poison.

Pitching decision definitely interesting. But then again, Freddie flies out there, NYY are up 1-0, and the stage is set for them to run the table. Dodgers with 3 shaky starters and didn’t even bring their top reliever to WS roster because ANOTHER injury? It’s gonna take drama and very alive bats, but seems like it may be destiny for LAD 23-24. I’m not overly confident outside of their current swagger.

Aaron Boone is a fucking moron.

Cortes hasn’t pitched in THIRTY SEVEN FUCKING DAYS. When he did pitch, he was bad.

Welcome back, Nestor, here’s the ball, get the heart of one of the league’s best lineups out in a game that we absolutely have to win to WIN THE WORLD FUCKING SERIES.

Take all the other situational stuff out of the equation, forget about the hitters, forget about everything except the fact that he hadn’t pitched in 6 goddamn weeks.

Boone trying to recreate his storybook moment as a player that he had in Game 7 of the 2003 ACLSA as a manger now.

Fuck it, just fire him right now and promote literally any of the bench coaches.

Boone has always been a managerial failure, he is a managerial failure, and he’ll always be a managerial failure. He’s the one man Dallas Cowboys of the MLB - not good enough to get there, too good to just outright fire.

FWIW Boone is just getting torched on X/Twitter. As he should.

I hated the decision to walk Betts. Arrogant ass move.

If the Yankees can pull out Game 5 tonight, they have a tall order in facing Yamamoto. If they can get to Game 7, the Dodgers are vulnerable with their remaining pitching.

I think you gotta go with a bullpen game in Game 6. Start Clay, get 2 innings out of him, maybe 3. Use Cousins, Hill, Kahnle, and Leiter to get to the 9th and let Weaver close it out. Leave Cortes in street clothes.

Game 7 becomes a starter mashup. Rodon as long as he’s hot, then Schmidt or Stroman, and whoever else can throw.

You can’t win the Series without getting to Game 7. Your best pitching is in the bullpen. Act accordingly.

Let's close tonight out before talking about this. But if they do, ALL of the pressure is on LA.

So much for that. Judge drops a routine fly ball and 2 more errors without recording an out and it’s tied. And Cole is almost used up with 30 extra pitches this inning.

RIP NYY. I hope they fire Boone.

Judge is an amazing regular season player but during the postseason he’s a fucking bum.

Boone is more likely to visit Mars than he is to walk out and try to calm down Cole.

What a waste of talent. Just goes to show that bad leadership can bring down almost anything.
