Why is baseball the best sport on the planet? Discuss. (6 Viewers)

Other than Kiki and Kelly in recent years, i dont quite understand the hate. The team from almost top to bottom (and mgmt) are consummate professionals, articulate, team first guys.

And the dodgers were in the middle of the pack for active roster payroll.

Until next year, #itfdb

Hi, my name is Aaron Boone. I manage the New York Yankees baseball club.

Tonight, I brought in a pitcher who hasn’t pitched in the entire postseason and who’s last time on a mound was 37 days ago to face the Dodgers at home in the bottom of the 10th and protect a one run lead

Then, just for kicks because I like walking around with a loaded howitzer at my head with a twitchy trigger finger, I walked one of the worst hitters in the postseason in the last 20 years to get to Freddie Fucking Freeman, who parked a Cortes waist high hanging cockshot into the fucking Chavez Ravine.

This is all part of my super secret plan to get fired when we lose the World Series 4-1 and I can get back to watching clips of the last good decision I had which was in 2003 when I swung at a Tim Wakefield knuckleball that failed to knuckle.

Be right back! I’m going to run a cheese grater of my genitals just to feel something, and then dip my entire head into undiluted hydrochloric acid since it’s the least useful part of my body.

Have a great day.

-A A Ron.

Blame Gematria.

And if you don't understand the hate you obviously don't understand a thing about the rivalry....
AGREED! I don’t understand most rivalrys, they make no sense to me. Maybe that’s just being younger or simply not understanding history.

One of the biggest rivalries in sports but they’ve met in the playoffs once in their 130 year history? Eh. Maybe it’s a baseball thing i dont get. NBA rivalries are formed in playoffs.

Since i was a kid, hated the Yankees since the 77 and 78 series but have much respect for Reggie and all the players back then. They were the better team.

The Lakers & Clippers have a rivalry yet they've never played each other in the playoffs. It's mostly fan fueled because they're in the same city. For 74 years the Dodgers & Giants played in the same city and fought for a pennant in the same division. There was only 1 division with no playoff. The team that finished first went to the World Series. Every time they played each other during the regular season was like a playoff series.

I grew up watching when NL West was all that mattered. In 1993 my Giants won 103 games & missed the playoffs by 1 game to the #*@%ing Braves. Why? Because only 4 teams in all of baseball made it to the playoffs. 1994 MLB expanded to 8 teams. Coincidence?

Season games used to mean something so every game playing the Dodgers was like a playoff game/atmosphere.

Hell I would say the Brian Johnson game back in '97 was one of the most exciting games I've ever been to. Says a lot too as I attended almost every Giants Playoff game in 2010, 2012 & 2014.

i hear you loud and clear. I will not be wearing dodgers paraphanelia when I make it out to a game ;)

If the Yankees can pull out Game 5 tonight, they have a tall order in facing Yamamoto. If they can get to Game 7, the Dodgers are vulnerable with their remaining pitching.

I think you gotta go with a bullpen game in Game 6. Start Clay, get 2 innings out of him, maybe 3. Use Cousins, Hill, Kahnle, and Leiter to get to the 9th and let Weaver close it out. Leave Cortes in street clothes.

Game 7 becomes a starter mashup. Rodon as long as he’s hot, then Schmidt or Stroman, and whoever else can throw.

You can’t win the Series without getting to Game 7. Your best pitching is in the bullpen. Act accordingly.
This did not age well.

Chatted with some of the dudes at the shop this morning (my barber came in full dodgers gear). They tried explaining it to me too, amongst several “f*ck the giants” and “f*ck the dodgers* comments  :ROFLMAO:

They get it!

I also have personally thought I was gonna die in the Big Blue Toilet Bowl parking lot TWICE (out of twice) & I have 0 intention on ever going back. Both times I was only guilty of being white & wearing a Giants jersey.

Orale guey.

Did you not follow the rules? Just have to go as a +1 to a Hispanic, or at the very least an Angeleno.
