Here I was thinking the only time I could be jealous of Beverly Hills was during the Oscars…There is something so perfect about minty, sharp chips.

I've had many poker games were I got the good ol "back alley", but its never been this literal.....Absolutely tickled pink about this ultra-rare 900 chip micro-stakes single-cardroom set I was able to acquire. It’s a great learning set for people who want to test out circus games, and something I want to use to teach my godson how to play poker.

LCV vs SVCInteresting that the 5c and 10c chips are the only ones recessed
I wondered about that too -- @GianThaMan / @BGinGA -- any idea why?Interesting that the 5c and 10c chips are the only ones recessed

the 5 and 10 cent ones are Short Cane Version as the rest of them are Long Cane Version. LCV seem to have no recess on them.
I think there is more to it.Asked and answered
All hot-stamped LCVs have no recess (or to be more accurate, practically no recess, same as these).I think there is more to it.
You would have to check other hot stamps you own to see if it is the same trend also
hmmmmmmm. I was always under the impression that Paulson/GPI/Angel didn't differentiate between SCV/LCV and mixed runs often took place. More things to remember. All hot-stamped LCVs have no recess.
Paulson did, though mixed runs and error chips did occur. GPI/Angel don't. Not sure how that's related to what I said though.hmmmmmmm. I was always under the impression that Paulson/GPI/Angel didn't differentiate between SCV/LCV and mixed runs often took place. More things to remember.
That has to be the best Paulson CA micro stakes hot stamped set ever produced - IMHO …Absolutely tickled pink about this ultra-rare 900 chip micro-stakes single-cardroom set. These can't be from 1957, Paulson only started producing their own chips in the 1970s, and some of these are SCVs, which means they have to be Paulson-produced, not Burt. Also, I looked up the bowling alley (it's still around, though only as a restaurant and bowling alley) and they say they started in 1994, so I'd guess they were produced around that time (though they may have been made by the previous owner of the bowling alley). Regardless, they aren't from 1957.Absolutely tickled pink about this ultra-rare 900 chip micro-stakes single-cardroom set. I found the 1957 number on an old eBay listing with its history. 1994 is more than 10 years from 2021, so you still have a 17-year window for the place to have been a casino, and judging by the chips, they weren’t used for very long.I called the location which is now a bowling alley, and they said the owner will be in tomorrow, going to try and talk to them about the history. Someone I spoke to who had been there for 10 years said they hadn’t been a casino as far as he knew. So it had to be from a previous incarnation.
You trying to say nickels and dimes don't make sense any more???Given the denominations, I'd date The Back Alley to 1970ish. Firmly late enough to not be C&J hat and cane chips, but early enough that nickels and dimes still made a little bit of micro stakes sense. Just a guess.
Tell them to make more poker chips!I called the location which is now a bowling alley, and they said the owner will be in tomorrow, going to try and talk to them about the history.
For a place that's trying to make money dealing a card game. Yes. Unless you can convince grandma to pay a $10 per half hour seat charge for her nickel dime game of 5 card draw? You trying to say nickels and dimes don't make sense any more???

EDIT: As our resident librarian @GianThaMan points out, my information on the date is incorrect, because of the presence of both LCV and SCV. I’m digging to get more accurate info.
