Windwalker’s Chipping Journey in Pr0n0grAph1C Detail (38 Viewers)

Could 3d14, 4d14 and 3d38 possibly be the only spots that can be used meaningfully on all denoms of a set and still be exciting? There’s something about their form that still lends so much vibrance to a full set, progression be damned.

Some new chippies to mix and match in 3d14 and 4d14 sets.

Not the only ones, but certainly the best. 3d14 to me are just the perfect inserts because they let the base color shine with just the right amount of the accent colors. Also nice pickup, Deadwood chips are amazing and these $1s are certainly up there with the best of them.

Snug-Fitting TRK Chips in Paulson or Unique Racks

If you collect TRK chips, one of the challenges you've probably faced is how loosely even minty chips fit in Paulson or Unique racks, even if they're chalky-minty. Which make deeper stacks of them wobbly and dangerous for the chips. For almost a year, I've been experimenting with a way to solve the issue, including trying to get a TRK-specific rack manufactured. I've tried everything from felt pieces, to cardboard to extra chips, to 3D-printed chip spacers from our very own @One Eyed Dollar .

The answer was staring me in the face every time I opened my utility drawer in the kitchen.

Because they're soft and have a lot of give, they work just as well for minty chips as they do for bike tires. It makes a clean, super snug fit, as you'll see below.

Here they are with some dead mint TRK chips.

The racks stack beautifully because of the snug fit. Enjoy! :-)

Hm. Interesting. What makes this solution advantageous over the other options you've tried?

What I do know is it's a pain in the balls if you want to repurpose the racks and remove those nipples. Getting the glue residue off had me wanting to melt the racks down into a knife and shank myself.

- The “compressibility” of the bumpers essentially creates a custom TRK-specific rack that can accommodate for the weird variation in TRK chip thicknesses, across casinos and even denoms in some cases. For example, King’s Castle $1s are thicker in the exact same condition than King’s Castle fracs.

- the size and transparency makes it easy to see through and identify the chips.

- the adhesion means I don’t have to track spacers, or deal with figuring out where to put them when I use the chips.

- As @buffalojim pointed out, repurposing them for Paulson chips would require removing the adhesive, which I actually haven’t found as difficult as Jim has. That said, I have enough quantity of TRK chips that I don’t mind dedicating specific racks to just be for TRK chips. It would be the same if I had gotten specific racks made for TRKs.

It’s incredible how much sturdier the stacks are though. Super happy with the outcome.

The racks I had, which were Paulson/Unique looked to have had those on for quite some time, on the underside of the racks as well. It took a lot of Goo-Gone and a scrubby but I got em' done. I got a nice deal on them but not sure I'd want to go through that again, honestly. If you have enough and they're dedicated TRK racks, you're good.

Been experimenting with creating the ideal Cali set for most PCF stakes -- ranging from $0.25/$.50 to $1/$2 using a combination of mint NAGB chips I have in the cabinets, and this is a rendering of the first attempt. Ignore the inlay, I just used the HP inlay because I had the artwork available. The set would be all the chips I have to spare, ready to relabel:

$0.25 x 200
$1 x 300
$5 x 400
$20 x 200
$100 x 100

Thoughts?

All chips look great except the 100. It feels outshined by the other denoms.

What about a black (ESPT100) or purple $20?

Damn, I’ve always loved those Saloon No 10 Deadwood $1’s. Awesome!

I finally made it through this entire thread, and just…WOW! What an amazing collection of chips. I’m absolutely floored by some of these sets. Unbelievable. Congratulations, @Windwalker, on an incredible journey thus far, and here’s hoping there’s plenty more to come!
