Windwalker’s Chipping Journey in Pr0n0grAph1C Detail (21 Viewers)

They might come off as "flimsy" because the material is thin but after receiving and re-shipping well over 800 Matsui racks, I never seen or had anyone report a broken Matsui rack that passed through my hands. They are sometime a little difficult to get lined up to interlock but other than that, I never experienced any issues with them as far as durability. I'm confident enough with them that I have all my chips are stored in them now.

That’s good to know! I only have about 10 of them. They do “look” flimsy. But so beautiful, and good to know they’re strong as well.

Would you travel with them though? Im considering travelling with a birdcage in a car with Matsui racks but I dont know what implications that might have...

I would say yeah after seeing how Matsui ships them to me. Just stacked in a very flimsy, paper like cardboard box, with very thin foam sheets between each layer.

Interesting, thats a sigh of relief then!

I’m hoping that will be soon again lol

I've traveled with a birdcage before.... they rattle... a LOT!

Where do you put it? Do you get a passenger to hold on to it, or do you leave it in the trunk/front seat when you're travelling in a car?

Brought out my small remaining BTP cash set for a quick Pr0n shoot. Seriously considering putting this set up for trade only, for something leaded, and with history. Any suggestions?

Great photo shoot! Gnarly chips :cool

Unfortunately, that’s not how it came back. I had a conference call with them to discuss the design, and we’re redoing a few things:

1. they’ve determined that a single molded piece will be too difficult to produce, and most likely crack anyway.

2. The handle will have to be bolted in, but we are making it about 3 inches wider.

3. I was able to load it up with 32 pounds before it clearly started straining from the weight. But a wider handle will help.

4. super impressed with the quality of the octagonal racks. They’re firm, lock in nicely, and look great.

They are redoing samples and prototypes with the wider handle, and a stronger bolting system.
Strange that they sent you a prototype that is not what was previously discussed, slightly annoying.

How do you feel about the look in person vs the acrylic?

They are super light though. Not much risk of damage packed like that when empty. I've received enough loaded Matsui racks to know that they are quite breakable. Would not recommend them for anything but at home display.

That is sad to see. Were they shipped in a non-doubled USPS box? I didn't have any broken racks from two Matsui WPS HS Horseshoe GBs.

I'm curious if @liftapint has any report of broken racks from the 2 Emerald Clubs GBs she did.

I think that applies to any rack though. I've had all sorts of racks arrive smashed when they had chips in them. I agree that the Matsui racks feel flimsy, I was surprised when i received the 1000 racks that only 1 had minor damage, and it was obviously from a strap around the box that was too tight that deformed the box and the 1 rack in that spot.

Shipping racks with chips in them are a bad idea. Travelling with chips in racks, do-able with caution. Probably best is a hard shell case with foam.
