Windwalker’s Chipping Journey in Pr0n0grAph1C Detail (16 Viewers)

So far, so good. Pocket 4s on the button, called a 3bb raise. Heads up. Flop is AQ2 rainbow. Raiser bets 200, I call. Turn is 7h. He bets 240, I raise to 750. He folds.

All credit to sensei @Steppenwolf who painstakingly helped me get started, caught up and find my first few sets.
I wish I deserved even the slightest amount of credit, but it took @Windwalker a matter of days to surpass me in chips and just a few short weeks to surpass my (*very* modest) chipping experience and knowledge. Since then, you have become one with the chipping force, my friend.

This is a photo of @Windwalker, soon after beginning his chipping journey...

@Windwalker you have an insatiable appetite for learning... well, there's that... and also chips :D #thesicknessisreal#

Well, that was fun. Always an issue being short-stacked at a table that plays big.

Was UTG and got dealt :ad::ah:. Raised to 5bb.

A bunch of folds until the SB. He raises to $250. BB folds and so does the button. I re-raise to $1050. SB puts me all-in and shows :ac::as:.

We agree to run it once.

Board is :8s::qs::8c::4s::ts:.

FML. Bleh.

I would die man... $3,100 on a single bad beat! That just sucks... nothing you could do there!! Yet again why I hate all in pre flop shoves... damn aces! Rebuy?

No, have to leave at 6am, so gonna chill. Wasn’t feeling it today. Soon as I got it in, I had *that* feeling, you know?

Unfortunately I think we all get that feeling at times! Have a safe trip home sir!! Go bet Black on the Roulette table!! Damn red aces!!

I had Red Aces a long time ago in a big tourney... early position, BB came over top... back and forth till we had it all in, he had AK spades... board ran black just like it did to you!! Have never forgot that damn hand. Just sucks because not much to learn in that situation... bad beats happen and it sucks!

Get em next time!! Which hat are your rockin this eve?? May have to retire that ome early!! Lol

The poll rankings of the sets that I own are in. 163 members voted, from an average PCF daily user count of about 850, which is statistically significant.

1. Lakeshores - 39.9%
2. Starlites - 33.1%
3. Binion’s WSOP - 26.4%
4. Giraffes - 19.6%
5. RVCLs - 19%
6. Dunes - 13.5%
7. Jacks - 9.2%
8. Outposts - 8%
9. HS Gardenas - 4.9%
10. LCOs and Mountain Clubs - 4.3%
11. Doc’s - 1.2%

Extremely surprised about the standing of the Doc’s set, but most of the others make sense.

They were my third choice. :)

I’d have the Doc‘s somewhere around 5/6 on this list - surprised they got so little love. Binion‘s would be a bit lower, but not by much.

Meanwhile, the love for the Outposts continues to confound me. They do nothing for me, personally - but that’s part of the beauty of this hobby.

The Docs would be the my next choice, then MT club. But they would be a hard sell on top 2.

Really not sure how the Jacks did so well, but it's prob because all the high denoms.

Me: "Bullshit — Giraffes are the best by far. This is rigged."

Prior to your acquisition of Doc's, some of us were not even aware the set existed. Nevertheless, I think a lot of people who took the poll would put them in the top 5.

Having to choose only our top 2 sets may have caused options like the Doc's to appear less popular than they really are.

A full ranking of these 12 sets from top to bottom might paint a very different picture IMO... at least for the Doc's.

Hey I agree only 3.5/6 denominations were pictured while the others had all denoms displayed

RIGGED ELECTION! :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:
Also heard that the windows on Krish's apartment had boards over them when votes were being counted...

I showed my wife the list, she picked Docs as her #1 & Mountain Club #2. I’ve noticed through my chipping journey that she prefers more understated vintage looking set and priorities a simple inlay.

Yeah, I’d be interested in a full ranking. I totally forgot that this was only reflective of peoples top two.

Fun research fact; most humans cannot cognitively rank more than 4 things accurately.

That’s why a research technique using the principles of MaxDiff was invented, to help get to accurate rankings of items. It shows respondents a list of items, but only in pairs.

You have to choose which of the pair you prefer. This continues for a while, as you state your preference for one of two items from the list, and the pairings are generated at random from the list. Once the list has been paired enough, you then will have a mathematically and statistically sound way of seeing what the actual rankings of a large list are.

Only a few publicly available tools allow for the execution of a MaxDiff study, AYTM is one of them. I’ll see if I can build one today.

It was odd for me. When I went to do the vote I put a check in all of my 'winners' and then pruned it down until I had two. First pass I had Lakeshores, Starlites, Giraffes, and Dunes.

Dunes for me was really odd given house molds are always something I view as a negative. I found I didn't mind them. They work really well with the inlays and that set is very 'cohesive' to me.

Giraffes I love, those colors can't be beat, and I actually really dig the inlay(I know people hate it, I don't). Spots could be bigger and the inlay could be shaped. I thought it'd be higher on my list but when push came to shove and I was slicing the very finest lines it didn't make the cut.

Starlites, the edge spot progression is great, the colors are great, the inlay is interesting and you wouldn't have to explain why you have some town in some random southern indiana town you've never been to on it for example. Lakeshores are kinda everything you'd want in a chip, interesting but not wordy inlays, shaped inlays, great colors, fat spots. Maybe could have gone with not the same edge spots but I think fat spots make that okay. Just a great set.

This entire exercise on your part has done an interesting thing for me. In something like high end cars there is always the Ferraris and the Lamborginis of the world, which many car enthusiasts would certainly covet. Your use of coveted was interesting. You can covet something but know that actually achieving it would come with a lot of costs and consequences you wouldn't actually want to bare. I'm never going to own a Ferrari for a number of reasons, but I could own a lesser but still auto enthusiast car like a 911 today. I may covet the Starlites or the Lakeshores, but wouldn't want to bare the consequences of actually owning them.

A Dunes set may be in my future and I never would have known before this. I'm not sure if I should thank you or not, but always good to have a moment of self reflection.
