Windwalker on Hustler Casino Live?!?!?!?!?!? (4 Viewers)

Epiphany just now. Why do those tryhards put so much stock into not giving off verbal / timing tells when their whole approach to squeezing out EV has been ranges and GTO? If their strategy is literally unbeatable, then you should be able to let your guard down and be not a miserable asshat when you're playing.
Well the strategy is beatable if you can determine from physical tells whether they are bluffing or betting for value. It’s the betting pattern that is “unbeatable” if implemented perfectly.

Just seems it's incredibly incongruous / disingenuous that the mantra that has been espoused for the last decade has been:

"Live tells are a crock of shit! Just focus on ranges, betting as near perfect as you can relative to the solver and you'll rake in the chips!"

But in the same breath they're frozen in absolute fear of having a bluff picked off by not being a statue? That does not compute at all for me.

Online they can’t hear you screaming to fold. That’s my experience anyway lol.

Also, as I understand GTO “unbeatable” does not necessarily mean “very profitable.” It just means “a non-negative result over a very long term.”

Which might be a very small win over a huge sample size. Or even a loss over a short run.

If you played a true GTO strategy (something which is not possible for a human to do more than approximate), you could still wind up ahead only a small percentage of your buy-in after thousands of hands if all the other villains are playing soundly, too. But how often are two masters of game theory going to be at the same random casino table, let alone nine of them? (Online, with bots and solvers… A different story.)

It’s all about who is deviating more from optimal, and how big a sample size you look at.

Exploitative play is likely to be more profitable *when it works.* But it’s less certain to be >0 in the long run.

GTO may be great when you're up against a field of fucking robots who all play exactly the same (and seriously, why the FUCK would you WANT to play against all those mis-regs anyway?)

But against the tell-boxes you SHOULD be targeting to make a profit, exploitative is my recommendation.

I also play off my gut feeling. 60% of the time it works every time

Almost all the serious players I’ve heard talk about GTO, who incorporate it into their coaching or their own play, urge people to understand game theory not to “play like a robot.”

Rather, they say to use game theory to better observe how your opponents deviate from it—so you can better exploit them.

If the table was full of players who played "perfect" GTO strategy, then it would be 0EV. @Taghkanic nailed it - knowing GTO helps you understand how to exploit opponents who deviate from it in predictable ways.

The motionless, hoodie-and-earphone mis-regs might be protecting themselves from exploitation by hiding or suppressing physical tells, but they are utterly horrible to watch on TV.

I love GTOs! I think about my buddies all the time when I’m sitting at the card table. ;)

I just watched Krish take down a $60,000 pot with AJ that runner-runner'd a full house against the villains nut flush.

... Meanwhile, I'm on my Poker Maven's site stressing about the $5 raise. I asked myself, WWKD?

That was an awesome hand to watch! I used it to give myself courage, and took down my own pot of $112!

I’d love to bluff Garret one day

Problem here is fold equity, Krish just doesn't have a large enough bet to force the fold

Then again, Garret knows this, so may think Krish does have him beat because it looks like he expects to be called

I think if Kriah had another 10k on top that it might have worked

The video title is actually a bit of a spoiler because you know a bluff is coming. As soon as I saw the stack sizes and garret's hand on the flop I figured it wasn't going to work because the hand was too strong relative to the pot size. Garret certainly plays exploitatively, but he also plays pretty sound strategy in the river situations from what I've seen. So it has to be pretty polarized to really make him think. I honestly think it was a courtesy tank and that was he insta-calling but didn't want to be rude to Krish in a stacking situation.

Not being results-oriented or a troll, but I think the right play is probably a fold on the flop, if not pre. I don't see a turn jam working due to all the draws. Ironically, if Krish was out of position and could have donk jammed the river he might have had a better shot of getting a fold.

Any news on when the new Hustler Casino Live chips will be in play?
HCL is going to have new chips? I was watching last night in the high stakes game and it looked like they were using chips that weren't absolutely filthy, so maybe they had already gotten some new ones in play? But they were the exact same as the old ones it seemed.

Also, this thread is really long and I'm sure I missed it, but I'm curious no one has asked Krish what he thinks of the Hustler oversized RHC chips with zero artwork.

Early in Krish's appearance on the Hustler stream, he was discussing the chips with Nick and suggested that he would help them design new chips.

Anybody know if this in fact did happen?

Seriously, though. Eye candy aside, I'm looking forward to Garret and Friends dropping stacks of plaques on the table instead of spreading out a half-acre of chips. I think it will add some style and character to the presentation, even if it doesn't necessarily turn the place into Montenegro.

Haha it would be closer to Montenegro if they’d have B&G plaques and the casino was named be like Le Casino Du Plaisir.

But for a casino named after a pron magazine I think the plaques are fitting. If they went with a B&G plaque it would be to classy. But the ChipCo plaque reminds me of my local dog track and I think that is fitting for Hustler.
