100 % STAGED , WILL SMITH ALWAYS WANTED TO BE AS TUFF AS 2 PAC , THIS GETS HIM .03% OF THE WAY THERE.

ALSO 2 PAC WAS ONLY A FAKE GANGSTER, HE WENT TO THE SCHOOL OF DANCE. SO WILL TRIES TO BE AS HARD AS A FAKE GANGSTER, THE WHOLE WORLD IS A HUGE STAGE.

THE END

This is the most convincing thing that tells me this was a legitimate smack.

Chris rock stepped forward thinking Smith was going to say/whisper something. Every part of Rock's positioning is preparing for a whisper, not a smack.

Smith smacked him, the same way you smack your 3 year old in the mouth when he says "fuck grandma". The smack is not to do harm, it's purpose is to teach an instant lesson.

I'm still skeptical about whether it was planned or not. I mean, when Smith turns around to go back to his seat, he's got this smile on his face like he is trying to stifle a laugh. Then he realizes he's supposed to be acting tough and composes himself with a tough-guy face and starts yelling at Rock.

I am shocked to find that you believe there’s a conspiracy going on here

Trying to predict how people “should” act in these moments is a waste of time.
Will smith has surely never walked up on a stage on live television and slapped anybody. Critiquing his immediate response to his own insane actions is futile.

He is also an extremely talented and experienced actor. He can put whatever face on he wants at any time

He addresses a few of the claims about legal issues.

Seems that the district attorney could bring a case against smith without rock bringing charges. I believe a complainant is only mandatory in civil cases.
Great video, and yes, the police do have better things to do I guess. This is one of those "lesson" moments though, where the PD could prosecute for 2 reasons:
  1. Abundance of evidence. As mentioned in the video, they have the video evidence and 100s if not 1000s of witnesses to corroborate the video.
  2. Considering how poorly the Academy handled the situation, you could make an example out of Will Smith. One of these "it doesn't matter HOW famous you are, you cannot commit assault and battery and get away with it."
Also, if I got attacked like that publicly over a joke, I would 100% being giving police reports and talking to lawyers. It'd be one thing if it was in a crowded bar, I'm drunk, said some stupid-ass shit, and got smacked. Totally another with that level of evidence involved, on that global of a stage.
Rock has (had?) an opportunity to make a statement here as well, in that, again, because the Academy handled it so poorly by not even kicking Smith out, that Rock filing a police report and/or pressing civil charges would be a statement against violence.

I feel like if Rock presses charges, he looks like an even bigger bitch - he’s in a no win situation.

Whoa, where are you seeing this stuff? Smith has by far the most egg on his face here! How does Rock look like a bitch? He took the slap, kept his composure, "rolled with the punches" about as well as anyone possibly could have.

Agreed, he doesn't need that kind of negativity. Right now most side with him. He'll lose respect from a lot of folks if he presses charges
Yeah, I agree, I don't think he will. Especially since he handled it so well so far, and knowing the amount of content he can churn off this event, he's already way ahead, LOL.

Rocks show ticket prices skyrocketed, he's gonna make bank off this

He did get bitch slapped so . . .
I dunno, somebody linked a Jim Carey interview where he said Rock should sue for a couple million dollars - I think the implication was that there’s some level of embarrassment?
But you’re right, and I’d like to clarify my opinion - I think Rock handled himself perfectly (at least after the joke - I’m still unsure about that.)

Here is the best post-slap coverage I have seen so far - definitely worth a listen:

Rener Gracie Explains How To Not Get Bitch Slapped
That's awesome!

Reminds me of Paulie from Sopranos. Remember how he's always playing with his hands in front of him? He learned that in prison. Keeps them in a position where he can more easily defend himself (instead of having them behind your back or in your pockets).

I think there's more embarrassment on Smith than on Rock. Smith sucker-slapped Rock and Chris bounced back in shock, but didn't show any signs of pain or fear. He came across as more of a "man" in this whole situation based on how well he took the hit, while Smith looked like a cuck whose wife directs his actions, plus Smith teared up later on stage.

So in my view, Will looks more like a "bitch" here overall than Chris does by a mile.

are people really trying to argue that smith wanted to stage this because it would make him look like a tough guy? whatever fans he may have gained from being a tough guy defending his wife’s “honor” were instantly lost when he came to the stage crying.

are we to believe that he wanted to cultivate a tough guy image and a sensitive pansy image all in the same night?

The only reason he stormed the stage was because Jada got upset. Will was laughing right along with the rest of the crowd at this insanely tame joke, but she got all cross-eyed and forced his hand. She clearly wears the pants in the family and pushed him to "do something" about it.

She’s only wearing the pants when she’s around Will. When she’s around their son’s friends…

For those that think what Smith did was justified, you’re basically cancelling all comedians and roasts going forward. Congrats.

There were 1000 other ways to handle it outside laying hands on him. He could’ve just said what he said after the slap and it would’ve looked a helluva lot better for Smith.

He has a history of laying hands on people. He lightly slapped a reporter in the face in a press line before one show a while back because the reporter asked a dumb question. Fucking guy actually thinks he’s Ali rather than just a guy that played Ali.
