I missed the OP (still stuck at CT) but a little story about Heineken

In the Middle Ages, the profession of urine collector existed.
Every morning, a man went through the city to collect urine, for a fee.
Ammonia was distilled from urine to make saltpeter for gunpowder.

Fraud soon arose as some mixed their urine with water to collect a larger amount.
To combat this fraud, the profession of urine taster arose who accompanied the urine collector.
During the New Times people learned how to make ammonia synthetically and both professions gradually disappeared.

The urine collectors and tasters left Flanders unemployed to settle in Amsterdam and founded the Heineken brewery…

Belgian beers are the best…
